Re: Gaming Name Origin

I play Warhammer 40k, and for a couple months I was Ordomalleus. It was too common, but I liked the Latin touch so I looked up "blood" (sanguis) and added it on. Occasionally I use OrdoCruor if OrdoSanguis is taken, which isn't often.

Re: Gaming Name Origin

I used to be SphincterBoy, a nickname I picked up from my boss on my first job out of college...go figure, he was funny. But once I added TG to my tags I got a PM from Bommando politely asking me to choose something new since TG is a "mature gaming community". Fair enough... So I chose Melee for no particular reason. If I had it to do over I'd probably pick something different since a) half the population can't pronounce it correctly and b) it's not unique enough.

Re: Gaming Name Origin

Haha I always like these threads when they come up.

Wintermute was the name of an Artificial Intelligence in the cyber-punk book Neuromancer. In the story Wintermute was an insane evil genius working from behind the scenes for its own devious purposes so I thought it would be a cool name for myself.

Re: Gaming Name Origin

When I started playing CS:S last year, I used the default [unknown] for a while and someone on the server I used to play called me an idiot for not doing anything about changing my player name. So just for fun, I changed my name to "the village idiot" and it's been a riot for players try to talk to me.

Re: Gaming Name Origin
