Re: Transformers (spoiler warning)

I just saw it last night and can't wait to see it again! This was hands down THE best movie I have ever seen. I'm going with whoever said that it was just so entertaining. That was the first movie I've seen in a long time that was actually worth the 12.50 or whatever movie's are going for these days. (Hubby paid. ) An incredible movie I will own. I'm also strongly considering naming our first child (years in the future....) Optimus Prime. Girl or boy. Thoughts? lol

Re: Transformers (spoiler warning)

Devastator was pretty pretty cool in the old stories since he was a mega robot with all of them together. To bad they didn't do that in this movie but it was still pretty good.

I'd love to see Astrotrain, Predacons, Dinobots, OR Omega Prime.

Ah memories.

I used to have Galvatron (the upgraded version of Megatron). What a sexy toy. Big purple gun basically. I dont think I ever had Omega Prime though..
hmm How is that possible? Now I'm sad.
Devastator was basically unstoppable unless the Autobots called in Omega Supreme or had some other silly trick up their sleave. I remember putting Omega Supreme together, it took like 10 mins to do... hehe Damned toys are worth like $300+ now.

The Dinobots I must say were VERY well made figures. It's too bad they can never duplicate that quality today. All today's figures are plastic yes?

And you would expect something different after such trilogy's as Shrek, Pirates and Spiderman? Come on... Hollywood will milk all of these for as long as they can.

Re: Transformers (spoiler warning)

One thing I didnt get about the movie is... where were the Energon cubes? W/o them transformers run out of juice. I suppose they'll have em in the sequel(s). This movie certainly seemed like an "Intro to Transformers." But the perfect intro at that.

Re: Transformers (spoiler warning)

That part might have been cut out to reduce the running time. It was 2 hours as is. I believe they each had their own energon cube and probably kept it secured within their mainframe. It's like a battery and does run out so they'll have to incorporate it at some point.

Re: Transformers (spoiler warning)

Actually, energon cubes werent introduced into the transformers until about 10 years ago. When I was a young lad watching the original transformers (no dinobots, no insecticons, no omega prime. just the ORIGINAL autobots and decepticons), it was just good vs. evil, no major goal. Just megatron trying to take over earth and the autobots trying to stop him and his cronies.

Personally, I always liked that better. The whole thing with energon cubes and cyber planet keys and such just made it a little too cheesy for me. It lost the whole good vs evil thing.

I have a cheap chinese remake of Devastator(merged from all the individual contructicons) on my desk at work. In fact on the other side is Bruticus. I have Gen 1 and 2 original constructicons at home as well.

They were always my favorite, maybe because my dad owned a construction company.

I remember energon cubes being in the original cartoon in the '80s. I don't remember whether or not they were in the comic book or not, though. I still have the first four issues of the Transformers comic, maybe I'll go dig 'em out and see...

Re: Transformers (spoiler warning)

Energon was a part of Generation 1 Transformers. The wiki gives you some clues but Grimlock was a primary devourer of energon and his weapon in robot form was pure energon which made him very dangerous.

Check out the wiki ferris!

Re: Transformers (spoiler warning)

Yes, look at the first episode. The first few episodes all involve energon. That's why megatron stays. I have all the episodes on DVD. I need to watch them again now.

Re: Transformers (spoiler warning)

Yep infact the first episode of season one was about using oil to fill energon cubes. I watched the first episode again!

Re: Transformers (spoiler warning)

After watching the new movie I decided to look around for the old TV shows and the animated movie. Been a long time since I had seen them, my son had me into watching beast wars there for a little while and I thought I was to old for cartoons(35), lol. Any ideas where to find them at?
