Going off that, it looks like they're aiming for a late 2005, early 2006 release. Sigil also likes really long betas...9+ months in length. So it's not unreasonable to see them starting a small but public phase of beta by the end of the year.

Besides, they're also giving away 10 beta slots at their fan gathering in a month...and while those slots don't mean the beta is starting right away, it does mean they are thinking about it and getting ready.
