Re: Trying to quit!

The best Advice I can give you is that you must want to quit for yourself first and really honestly mean that. I think it helps to maybe right down the benefits of you quitting, things like more money in your pocket, better health and a longer life. I'm passionate about video games, motorcycles and family. Those are reason for myself when I quit smoking, anything that will take away from the time I have with my family or hobbies is nothing I truly want to deal with. I agree that exercise is a great tool too, it's really a mixture of many things that will help you quit, you just have to determine what does it for you.

I truly wish you luck and hope that you do kick the habit, feel free to talk to me or anyone about the issue, it's truly another good tool in helping you quit with support from others.

Wink Re: Trying to quit!

OK here is my experience. I quit cold turkey from a 2 to 3 pack a day habit. I would run out of cigarettes in the middle of the night then I would get dressed and go buy some. I had it bad for about 20-30 years. I gave up coffee for the most part and ate carrots all day. It was one of the hardest thing I ever did. But the rewards are big. When you quit you will get a raise that is tax free. You spend the money on yourself as a reward for a while. You will be able to smell again and you want smell (bo). Just remember that if you take one chew or one smoke then it's all over and you have to start from square one again. I did that a few times before it took.

The other part that helps is that you have to clean them (easily done with a Kleenex)...and you will see first hand the nasty crap that is otherwise going into your lungs.

Well, I'm not a quiter, but the chewing tobbaco is the worst, if you don't want fake teeth when your fifty stop that first. But its extremly hard I would imagine to quit with/o gum or patches, but all patches/gum is a slower intake of tobbaco to your system making the physical addiction less so I guess you can do it with cigerettes.
When your 50? Heh, I have a friend who's 30 and already had to get one of his front teeth replaced with a porcelain one because he chews everyday. I weened myself off smoking about a year ago cause my teeth were turning yellow lol. Some of those whitestrips and heavy brushing later they're finally looking better, yay!
