Re: The Simpsons Movie

I saw it last night as well. I really liked it. Ralph Wiggum's line when Bart was skating naked was absolutely classic.

Re: The Simpsons Movie

Saw it with the gf yesterday. I thought it was funny as hell personally. Green Day playing violins while the stage went down made the movie for me.

Re: The Simpsons Movie

Good to see all of the positive comments, I know the Simpsons always have talented writers, but they seem to be slipping a bit of late. I was hoping they would pull through with something hilarious given the time to brainstorm the funniest possible movie they could come up with. Hopefully I will have a chance to see it soon.

Re: The Simpsons Movie

I didn't think it was amazing, it didn't really live up to the series, but that might be because it had to have a story to it? (being a film and all)

Re: The Simpsons Movie

I have to say that I wasn't overly impressed. It's worth a watch but I wouldn't go in expecting it to blow you away. Many of the half-hour episodes were MUCH funnier than the movie. Even the whole premise of the story line was kinda lacking for me.

Re: The Simpsons Movie

While I admittedly went in with no expectations, I was still surprised at how much I enjoyed the movie. I'm the type of old school Simpsons fan who was obsessed back in its peak (Seasons 3-8 or 10), but haven't been able to watch since then due to its pat, obvious humor, inconsistent writing, and the lack of biting satire that really defined those earlier seasons.

But there was in fact intelligent writing, more dark/subversive humor than I'd expected and a decent script. It was far from perfect, but for the elitist fans that are skeptical, it's worth seeing in the theater, IMO.
