No Re-enlistment bonus...but I was lucky enough to keep my job

I don't really like the ABU's...for several reason's....

1. Way too hot.
2. Not camoflauged...AT ALL!
3. Way too expensive.
4. No unit patches (Shows pride in your unit...kinda like telling the 101st to get rid of the "screaming eagles")
5. No useful pockets, I like the Army Pockets.(But we do got a nifty pen pocket

).
6. No Squadron Hats.

But there are some plus's:

1. NO more ironing.
2. NO more shining boots.(goodbye heatgun)

But all in all, they are really silly!

Eh, I like BDU's better. ACU's suck.
However.... HEAT GUN??!?!?! You use a heat gun to shine boots?! Wow...thats like the guys who use that liquid polish crap. Kiwi, brush, rag. Spitshine is the only real way to shine boots, and it's a freaking artform! :P

I'm glad you made the choice without much stress. I think your reasons are true to yourself, and thats an accomplishment in itself.

As I write that, I'm still stuck deciding whether I want to go to college in a year or jump on ROTC. I sense an Advice thread of my own...

Also...

How much GOOD beer can possibly be in Korea?

I actually planned on jumping head long into basic in a year and joining the Marines. That went down the drain though,I was shot in the eye with a paintball gun and it nearly detached my retina (spelling?). My eye won't react to light,and I take eye drops daily so my eye will constrict to let me leave dark places. Military won't take me,and my family thinks its a blessing in disguise. I have other plans now,I'm going to get rich being a Wind Energy Technichian (look it up,2 years of college,garunteed a job and $25 bucks an hour right out of tech school).
