Re: Direct2Drive purchase...

Went ahead and upgraded to 6mb/512 DSL. Wont get it until Wednesday though.
ALSO, check the D2D site - GRAW is still not up

Dammit, I wanted this game before everyone else. Perhaps they go by PST instead of EST. I'll try again at 3AM then.

Re: Direct2Drive purchase...

hmm, D2D tells me that "I am not in a country that can download GRAW w/ FarCry bonus". I dont really need the bonus game. Hopefully i will be able to buy the game over D2D without bonus. I was able to download SWAT4 Expansion over D2D a few weeks ago.

I hate translated games/movies/books. Usually i order my stuff from amazon.co.uk but they stopped shipping games outside of the UK recently.

Re: Direct2Drive purchase...

Some allow you to put them on as many PC's as you want, some games do not... they require an activation for that one PC.

BTW: Patently waiting for the D2D release, where the hell is it?

Re: Direct2Drive purchase...

For those who may not have seen it, one of the advertising points for GRAW at Direct2Drive is the following:
  • Stunning urban environment: One capital, multiple locations. Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter takes place entirely in Mexico City, one of the world's largest cities. A stunning, meticulously detailed universe will provide complete immersion in the urban war of the future.

So it does indeed appear that the entire game will take place in an urban environment.

As am I... I went as far as sending a letter basically saying the only reason I used the service was to get games earlier then normal. They responded by saying "there's still time left in the day to make the estimated release time".
On the website they still have GRAW up as a preorder, which is a bad sign. Granted, I HAVE been enjoying playing Prince of Persia while I wait. That's a kickass game I tellya, lotta fun. Although, it's starting to get a bit repetitive.

I think i figured it out. Might be interesting for the international audience at TG. Some publishers simply dont want their US/UK Versions shipped to other countries. For whatever reasons.

I can order every game on D2D except for ALL Ubisoft games. Thank you, Ubisoft, for making it extra complicated to obtain an english copy of this game.

Europeans will be able to get localized versions of the game (eg. german manual, german voice-overs...) in stores.

Interesting however, I just ordered the game from the Ubisoft Online Store in UK for aprrox. EUR 44.- Thats EUR 5.- below the price of the localized german version I would be getting here in Austria.

Ubisoft has a contract with the Dept. of Homeland Security that prevents them from distributing military content to foreign gamers.

Funny... now it's like MMORPG's for release dates. Course, all they gotta do is put "estimated" in their date and they think they're off scott free.

... last time I use D2D
