Ok,
GRAW is purchased, installed and being tweaked. Bear has a LONG LONG way to go though before he's anything other than a walking target.

The latest patch should be released shortly. The beta testing sites will be taken down 11 PM Friday GMT. So be on the lookout. We will post as soon as it is available. We will get it up on the TG download section for all to grab.

Bear, that's great to hear.
About getting the game... not the walking target bit... oh, you know what I mean.
Don't sweat the twitch. We're playing really slow and patient in order to stay alive. Teamwork has done more than twitch skills for extending lifespans.
It'll be good to game with you again. It's been ages since we teamed up in Joint Ops.

Mirfee....OMG it's great to hear that you're still alive and kicking!!
It' has been a long time away from shooters for me that's for sure. I do distinctly remember playing Joint Ops when WoW first launched and making the following comments "I'm not playing any stinking game that involves dragons and elves" and "if there's no M60 I'm not interested". Oh well!!!
Anyway, time to train, we got tangoes to kill

Re: Tactical Gamer GRAW Report, 09/05/2006
I'm keeping my eyes peeled for this title.
Nice to see that it just might be the kind of title that could become a good game, but I have to say that I am disgusted that it shipped with no decent co-op mode whatsoever. Ubi must have no use for the non-xbox crowd.
I'm interested in knowing how the playability is. (I have the SP demo)
How is the moddability? Strag inquired about my potential interest in modding this game. I did a ton of modding with GR, none with any other title. I would consider getting this game if it looked like it had a future, but it only has a future in my mind if it can be modded well (like GR) and is tactically playable. In other words: not like JO/CS.
So, what's it look like?Karma

Re: Tactical Gamer GRAW Report, 09/05/2006
Good to hear from you, Karma.
With the new OGR coop mode, GRAW certainly seems to have the potential to pick up where Ghost Recon left off, but it's going to need some help from the modding community. And yeah, many of us were thoroughly disappointed that the game shipped with such shoddy coop support. Fortunately, this is being rectified.
Hopefully some of the other TG and =GsTA= Ghost Recon vets who have played the MP3 beta patch will chime in and give you some good feedback. I'd rather you hear it from them.
I will say that the map editor DOES have support for editing coop maps now, and that mission scripting can be done using a text editor. So there is hope.
Also, I'll say that the OGR coop mode certainly does not play like JO or CS. It plays and feels like Ghost Recon coop.

Re: Tactical Gamer GRAW Report, 09/05/2006
Karma, the crucial unknown for me is whether coop missions can be played with the 12-man team and how they can be modded. The OGR coop mode seems to be like a gametype for GR, kind of like Firefight. Objective is just to kill and extract basically. So, while OGR demonstrates the game's capability to run coop with 12 men, we have yet to see if objective-based missions can be scripted with 12 men. I think it's likely possible, though. They hinted at this long ago.
But, from what I've heard from the TG'ers testing this demo, the OGR AI is difficult and interesting enough to require the high-stakes SOP-style of teamplay from GR.

Re: Tactical Gamer GRAW Report, 09/05/2006
This is key, in my view.
While longevity for this game is an unknown right now due to questions of modding, etc, I will say that the core gameplay that has emerged in OGR coop *is TG* in my opinion.
The AI is deadly in a cruel way. Right now the challenge they present is due to unrealistic awareness and from-the-hip snap-fire long-range perfect headshots (on Hardcore... somewhat less so on 'mere' Hard which, as some have said and I agree, feels more like OGR on Elite).
Some good scripting from modders would make them more interesting and 'clever' opponents. I'd much prefer enemies that engage, fire, maneuver, etc, rather than just pace until triggered, or stay put and spec fire (they seemed more 'intelligent' in the SP game, honestly, so I imagine it's possible to improve their behavior).
