Guys and Gals,
I'm going to give GR a shot because it's not very expensive, and a lot of people claim its a blast.
I'm in the process of downloading the required mods listed in the sticky. Are those mods all I need to get started? Do I really need the Cops and Robers mod?

OH YEA, when I buy this at the store, should I even bother with the 'Gold' package that has all the expansions at an extra cost?

Should I play a few solo missions first, then try playing online? Any suggestions will be welcomed.
Also, what do you GR peeps think about GR 2? Will that replace GR anytime soon?

BTW, cucumber sandwhiches rock!

You really should get the gold package. You should be able to find it for under $20 and the 2 expansion packs are needed to run many of the MODs. Welcome to the community.

You definitely need the gold version, since we run both expansions at all times. I don't think you really will be needing the cops and robbers mod, either. The absolute requirements in terms of mods would be TG 3.0 and Frostbite patched to 1.3. Let me know what I can do to help you out if you need it!

Should I not worry about GR 2 at this point in time then?

Also, in what order should I install said expansions? TG then Frostbite...?

Install in this order...

1 - Ghost Recon
2 - Desert Siege
3 - Island Thunder (+1.4 patch, if the gold version isn't up to this)
4 - Frostbite 1.3
5 - Tactical Gamer 3.0

You should activate 2-4 in the same order in your Options/Mods menu.

Also... GR2 isn't out yet for PC (console only, for now). So no worries about any sudden abandonment of the original GR.

Do *NOT* intall Frostbite 1.3 alone- it's only a patch. You need to do 1.2 FIRST.

Hey Guys! Wyz covinced me to purchase Ghost Recon, when he said "You haven't lived until you've played a night of GR at TG." Thanks for the helpfull information on setting this up, and what to buy.

So how do you guys usually play GR? 8-man squad versus another 8-man squad? Versus computer controlled player?

I logged on and played a solo mission on Saturday. Got my rear-end handed to me, but I had a fun time. I like how I got torqued around when shot.
