Sunday night's games
Wow, that was a lot of fun. I think we did very good considering most of us haven't played the game in month's or even years. Thanks to all the leaders who stepped up.

Re: Sunday night's games
Great games. Was a bit slow at some points (especially when you were the first to go :P) but the teamwork was spectacular and made up for that.
Always fun to watch a patrol of 6-7 enemies drop in less than 3 seconds ![]()

Re: Sunday night's games
Let's see: I tk'ed twice, lived up to my First to Die (tm) rep twice, and generally spent most of the time watching Luna, Quarath, H-Hour, and Apophis show us what TG is all about.
A great time was had, in other words. ![]() |

Re: Sunday night's games
Yeah, once the missions calmed down a bit things got really great. That game still represents the essence of TG for me. I was sorry I had to leave, because Wulfyn stepped in with an excellent lead right before I left (only two deaths!).

I was listening on TS, and glad to see some of you guys out of EVE. If only we had such a showing for OFP!

Re: Sunday night's games
Scariest(and hence most exciting) moments for me tended to be taking that first shot in a round.
Since I kept switching kits to try different things out, I tended to have little to no idea what the weapons I was carrying were capable of. Two cases that stand out for me were: - Luna pointing out two enemies to me and asking whether I could take one out...with me only being able to respond with a "maybe." ^^ - And at the top of the hill in Wulfyn's first round - where I suddenly found myself opening up with a fairly fast firing and heavily arcing grenade launcher. (The expolsives type reticule had kept me terrified to fire that thing while there were friendlies anywhere near my front arc.) ;P

Re: Sunday night's games
Wow, I learned a lot last night. Would love to do this again.
This is the first time I have played this with more than 3 people (almost always played with 2) in an online game. It's a lot harder with more peope than it is with a few. I need to better understand how you operate as a team of 9, I was having a very hard time figuring that out. I died at least 3 times because I was afraid to fire or I wasn't sure if I could fire. On the first map I lived all the way through (firing when I needed to). The only problem was that I was kind of "lone wolfing" it. Next time I'll sit way back to try and learn how the whole team operates with that many people. Was I correct in understanding that 9 people was the maximum amount of people we could have active on at any time? |

Re: Sunday night's games
I had a great time also... GR is a true example of a co-op game...
That said... I was disappointed in my performance, the three deaths I had would of been prevented if I used the tactics I know... 1st death... well we won't go there, lol, thx Mateo ![]() 2nd death...after staying in my position in the voting building and racking up a number of kills as they attempted to enter, we then moved out... going down the street, nice and slow, checking all my corners... then the two jeeps come around the corner... if I would of taken cover or go prone before engaging, I may of still been here today... but instead I decide to immediately engage in the open, kneeling... hugh tactical error on my part. 3rd death... I was squad leader, we worked our way up the rock wall engaging enemies, then we came to a small ridge line overlooking the convoy, I call my squad up in line formation as we engage the convoy and supporting troops... but then I see a grenade land 3 feet in front of me, I don't think there is a bad guy within grenade range, so I think one of my men limp wrist-ed it... it blows take out the full three man squad... tactical errors again... maintain distance, and watch the flank. I could also tell some of the old timer, regulars, of TG...weren't to happy with some of us "rookie" TG members, lol... oh well. thats 3 for 3 Mateo, so far your weekly clubs a HUGH success... will have to wait and see and DoF next week. I took a bunch of screens, but will go through and upload a handful of the best later in the screenshot forum. |

Re: Sunday night's games
I really enjoyed the two or three rounds I was able to play, but I wish I'd been able to join sooner. I spent most of yesterday afternoon and evening fighting with my computer. I finally ended up having to install Windows 2000, and even that is only running half-assed right now (which is why I was having sound issues with Teamspeak). But, I was finally able to join and play a few rounds, and it was a blast. I'm rusty as hell when it comes to GR (it's been at least two years since I've played it), but it came back fairly quickly.
Wulfyn, great job leading the group on the two rounds I played. Everyone else in the group did a great job as well. I hope there's another Ghost Recon Game Club Night soon! |

Re: Sunday night's games
why do we have to wait? I'll be ready to play tonight @ 9:00 if anyone wants to hop in..... I think though that the server is not set to elite... thus slowing down the gameplay.... there were no more that 20 enemies on the three maps I played last night.
once I got my settings dialed back in, I thought I did rather well (except for the lag jumping... this is what caused both my deaths actually.... wound up dying 20 yards from where I had positioned myself a minute before) I think I won't be doing any gaming over wifi next time......

Re: Sunday night's games
I had an ENORMOUS amount of fun last night playing GR. It really makes me wonder why I don't play this game more often. Great work by everyone that showed up, even Mateo and JMJ.
![]() I would also love to revert back to the TG3.0 mod as we have some EXCELLENT custom missions in there. It would require everyone to download Frostbite 1.2 and the 1.3 patch as well as the TG3.0 mod, but they are all in the member's download area. It would be quite amusing to watch some of the new-to-TG GR guys try and work their way through White Tiger. hehehe.

Re: Sunday night's games
Indeed.
Mateo, it seems like the Game Club nights thus far have been very successful in renewing interest in some of these games (AA and GR especially). For the games with big turnouts and continued interest, maybe a weekly meeting time could be set up for each(?). These games could be pulled out of the Game Club rotation so that other games could be brought in and tried. If other games in the rotation proved popular, perhaps each could have its own established night as well. Maybe something like Monday nights for GR, and Thursday nights for AA, for example? Or, maybe one night could play host to two games (GR at 8pm, AA at 10pm on Mondays)? The key, as usual, would probably be having a set night(s) so that we can all plan for it. |

I like the success of the rotation thus far: great turnout! Let's leave it as is until we do Day of Defeat, then recalibrate. If DoD falls flat, then we can swap that out with something else. That's sort of what I was getting at with the Game Club/Squad hybrid idea: each night a defined game, and a schedule where everyone knew when and where to show up. I suppose Game Club can be expanded to more than one night. One idea I had was a Special Event, where a game not in the rotation (SWAT 4 or CoD2, for example), got a weekday slot for 2 hours+ of mayhem. I haven't put one up yet since I'm still figuring out what to do about Super Bowl Sunday. Another idea was a Reprise night: if Sunday was particularly successful, then we revisit the game Monday or Tuesday, and have another go. I'd be game for more GR tonight or tomorrow night, if anyone is interested. |
