Talking Re: Ghost Recon 2 Videos and Screenshots

not sure if I like the 3rd persn view, but the airstrikes look damn cool!

wow.. it keeps getting better.... destroyable objects like runways, and demolishing buidlings! (the airport tower)

Wow.... I like how they kept a lot of stuff the same (rets, sounds), yet change a bunch at the same time.

this looks VERY close to being complete.... can't wait to see what IGOR looks like

Re: Ghost Recon 2 Videos and Screenshots

Yeah, they have said OFFICIALLY, that the 3rd person is an OPTIONAL view.

I agree. It felt very similar, and I like that, because the feel is what gets me into the game the most. I was very impressed. The only thing I didn't like was that it seems very big on the blow-tons-of-crap-up type of gameplay. But, of course, the stealth thing doesn't make for good videos, so I'm not counting it out.

It seems to me like they took the level design up several notches, which is really good. Because that was one thing I felt was lacking in the first GR.

Re: Ghost Recon 2 Videos and Screenshots

Why do they always take screenshots without anti-aliasing?! It can make screenshots look so much better.

Anyway, the video was neat. A lot of the same elements of GR are still there. The new compass mini-map is a good change. The zoom has been changed a lot and it looks like OFP's ironsight style. The physics are looking good. Bodies fall appropriately to the environment. Red Storm has been working hard on this baby and it's looking good.

Re: Ghost Recon 2 Videos and Screenshots

OMG!!!

That was absolutely incredible. I agree with H, I'd like to see some sneaky stealthy ops, instead of the crazy run and gun, but overall I am blown away by the possibilities.

GR2 is definitely looking good so far!

Re: Ghost Recon 2 Videos and Screenshots

Probably sarc, because of rendering requirements...just a guess. just hope map making/mod designing is easier and less daunting than the first.

Your hopes have been answered, Brooklyn!

Requirements? Just get a new computer! I bet it'll run fine with what you have. You can run RvS and I don't think GR2 will be that much more intensive. This isn't HL2 or Doom 3.

I doubt it. I bet it's just marketing not thinking smart when taking screenshots. It doesn't take much extra time to force it in the graphics drivers and it's not like the hit in framerates is going to matter.

If Apo is able to get my questions answered at E3 then we might know a little bit about that. Although, now that I've gotten comfortable with 3DSM, I really think GR is pretty easy to map for. There are certainly some issues that seem unnecessarily difficult, but the process is pretty quick compared to other games I have tried to map for.

Re: Ghost Recon 2 Videos and Screenshots

WOW!!!!

Looks completely awsome to me. I found myself trying to zoom in and switch between players while i was observing LOL! I like the kit options able to carry assult riffle AT frags and a pistol all in one kit load out much more realistic than the 2 choices the present GR allows which will make for much more planning for the TL possibly or may just make things much easier. The third person view sucks but as was mentioned it's optional. Love the idea of air support how far that can be taken remains to be seen. All in all the potential here looks great map size and dynamics look great, except like GR1 the ground cover IE long grass and bushes didn't look much different. I was kinda hoping for a more realistic enviroment where long grassy fields and dense bushes would provide better cover than a couple stand-alone bushes like in GR1. but ya big thumbs up to the initial show lets hope they get it all right.

I think someone slipped something into your soda dude....

That was the strangest comment I have ever seen in relation to someone asking about maps...
