    TG3 Weapons/Kits Analysis

    Hello all....

    Minja asked me to post the following for him..........

    ====================================

    Here are two PDF files showing the kit numbers, characteristics, and accuracy tables of some of the weapons in TG3 Final, created in Microsoft Excel and converted to Adobe PDF. One chart is quite objective, the other is very subjective. There are no errors that I can see in the stats but there may be an error in matching one or two sets of stats with the correct weapon. (If you use the Igor Gun Editor yourself, you’ll note that the weapons file naming convention leaves much to be desired, the intent being: use as few letters as possible for the weapons file name .

    TG 3 Weapons Kits in Adobe PDF Format

    Theoretical Best TG 3 Weapons Kits in Adobe PDF Format

    Right-click on link above and use "Save Target As" to download.

    EDIT: Files UPDATED 12/19/2003 7:50pm EST

    If I am missing some obvious weapons or any of your favorites, post here and I will add them to a revised PDF. If you disagree with my subjective choice of the “best” weapons, let the controversy and arguments begin.

    Unless obvious, here are some abbreviation explanations, (left to right): Claymores, Other (Masterkey, M203, ATK GL, GP25, Breaching Charge), Magazine, Stabilization, Recoil, Muzzle Flash, ROF (Single/Burst/Auto), Prone, Crouched, Standing,

    On the accuracy tables: the lower the number, the more accurate the shot taken from that particular position, whether stationary, shuffling, walking, or running. For example, of all the weapons, the most accurate shot on the chart is the stationary prone shot with a sniping PSG-1 at an accuracy rating of 0.1, the least accurate being the standing running sniping SVU at 2500.

    BTW, anyone who has a copy of the Ghost Recon CD and the TG3 mod can examine these stats for themselves.

    Here's how:

    1. Open IGOR from the main GR folder
    2. Go to File/mods
    3. Leave only the TG3 box checked
    4. Click "close and refresh" to close the dialogue box
    5. Go to Tools/Gun Editor
    6. Scroll through the weapons to see the data

    Please let me know of any errors and/or omissions, and I will make corrections.

    Which stat gives the 'power' rating of the gun?
    Accuracy is good, but what is the stopping power?

    I see the stats for the AK5D and realize it's stats aren't that great. I've really liked that weapon, and it seemed that

    The lethality of a weapon is a derived statistic, you have to use 5 different weapon values (kc1,kc2,v0,v1,v2) then you can determine the kill energy (KE) at various ranges.

    You're correct, of course, but I don’t know how to work the math on the Velocity and KillEnergy formulas.

    For example, here are the stats for 3 sniper rifles from the IGOR Gun Editor:

    SR25sd
    Velocity = 725 + -0.85 x Range + -0.0025 x Range ^2
    KillEnergy = 0.2 x Range + 0.004 x Range ^2

    PSG-1
    Velocity = 804 + -0.735 x Range + -0.002 x Range ^2
    KillEnergy = 0.2 x Range + 0.004 x Range ^2

    M82 Barrett
    Velocity = 860.8 + -0.767 x Range + -0.0035 x Range ^2
    KillEnergy = 0.2 x Range + 0.004 x Range ^2

    But most of us already know that the .50 caliber M82 Barrett is the most powerful of these three, but I still can’t do the formula.

    So, if someone would go through the Gun Editor stats and email me one list of “kill power” numbers that makes comparative sense, I’d be happy to add the column to the chart.

    LMAO. I will correct in next edition next week, after a few more comments come in. Notice Revan's SAW did not make best, but it does when Revan uses it. That's another subjective factor.

    This is great. The M98 surprises me.

    Would you do all the weapons and email me?

    New Version Posted

    The charts have been updated to include the weapons commented on and a number of support weapons. The KillEnergy numbers were taken from and idea by Frijo13s and Trey's chart.

    My selection of "best" weapons is now less subjective but more inclusive.

    For my part, I'd like to hear what people feel are the strengths and characteristics of their own few favorites. Someone said the AEK919 was fun and like a "bullet hose". Well, that was funny but look at the numbers on that weapon, LMAO.

    Well, I've never been a big fan of numbers. How I work with a gun usually has more to do with how good it is for me then it's statistics. For instance, give Badger the G36 on Embassy and he'll cream you, but I can't hit those long range shots like he can with that gun. Also, you notice the PSG-1 is the most accurate. Well, I've done extensive testing myself and I've found I just have a higher hit percentage when I use the SVD. Over and over I've tested other sniper rifles and even though they may be more accurate, I find that I tend to hit my target more with less shots when I use the SVD. Not sure what causes that. Also, I didn't see information about auto/burst/single shot. I love the aug on single, but auto it is really really innacurate. Also, it doesn't have burst, which is a great thing to have for those instances where you've got to be able to handle targets at close and medium range.

    Sometime ago I sort of recall Parabellum at Ghostrecon.net either posted or emailed me some test fire groupings that he made with sniper rifles and the PSG-1 groupings were the tightest. I can find the image tho.

    That's my point, though, Minja. It might have the tightest groupings, but I can hit targets better with the SVD.
