ok guys times are hard.
i dont know if the rest of you have noticed but Ghost recon is loosing support all over the shop. not because the game isnt enjoyable any more but because we hav all played the maps. we all now the drill and well boring next please. we need to find new mods for the mod server, and actually announce them both in tg homepage and general forums.
i dont know how to impliment this or if it can be done. but how about having a few guys search the regular places. platoon gr.net and so on for just new maps.
i played GR for the first time yesterday since my last squad meeting. that really isnt enough.
i am not trying to tell people what to do... etc etc but it seems like everything has just stoped and apart from things being done in house for the next TG mod encounter.
in the mean time a few fresh maps every m,onth or so is great. the more the merrier.

Re: ok guys times are hard.
Yeah, I feel your pain dudeman.
Part of why we liked Canadian Ops as a mod pick was that it brought some fresh maps to the table. (not necessarily "new" maps, but not eh stqandard GR ones)
The problem was that the scripting was short of spectacular, and the server was crashing every other map.
We'll keep looking, and there are a couple new maps in the works(alphasquad's farm map, RSi's white skull valley) that look spectacular, but good maps, like good women, are hard to find.

Re: ok guys times are hard.
Good maps are incredibly rare. Other then the dam and Ossetian Woodland's, HX5's were about the only playable custom maps ever released, and many of them were borderline.
Mapping itself is always a big process, but mapping for GR is considerably more complicated then mapping for quake-based and unreal-based games ever was.

Re: ok guys times are hard.
maybe i posted wrong... i dont care about the maps as such... i want new missions. that are refreshed constantly... even if it was 6 missions a month or something like that... there are tons of modders out there.. and dont they put them up on gr.net......
not maps... maps are good but .... well missions are better.

Re: ok guys times are hard.
Dudeman, most new missions are either:
a) Just not good enough to be very enjoyable.
b) Either not designed for coop or incompatible with coop. Most of the modding that goes on is designed for SP play.
But Dudeman, some of us are working on that right now. Frijole is working on a mission, I've got one at beta and two more planned, Rose has some planned. Also, I found a mission scripter that has some 25 missions and he is very eager to get his missions played in coop mode, so he's willing to put in some work to make them compatible for coop play. His missions are very right-hand-style, and would fit in well here.
It's definitely a problem Dudeman. I'm working on it, but just a tad overwhelmed with stuff to do at the moment.

Re: ok guys times are hard.
I recently put up a slew of missions courtesy of Revan. They're on the public server too.

Re: ok guys times are hard.
Perhaps we could have announcements of missions as a sticky?

Hi, this is Pokerface... long time listener, first time caller.
Why isn't TvT more popular? I would think that'd be a cure to at lease SOME woes expressed in this thread.

Re: ok guys times are hard.
It's a whole different style of play. One that's very fun, definitely, but very different. Mission-based coop play is sort of the "meat" of GR play here.

Re: ok guys times are hard.
We do play TvT (in fact Null just had a small event recently with the rest of the TG squads) but it is rare. We prefer to play together on GR to accomplish a common goal together. TvT never really brings up that mission feeling like coop does.

Re: ok guys times are hard.
Unofficial announcement
Revan has sent me another crapload of missions and they will be up on the servers shortly. I was hoping the first crapload she contributed would surprise you guys on the servers.

I would agree Poker. But then again I've just recently started playing GR and its ALL new to me.
It does take some getting used to. A tad slower than NS but still, I like it.
Why just last evening I completed a mission for the very first time.
Not quite as nice as picking off Luna on Sunday but rigth up there........
