    New Content: Need Feedback

    Since the release of TG 3.0, there has been a lot of high-quality content released by the mod community. In particular, there have been 3-5 excellent maps released that I believe are open for inclusion in independent packaging. Missions have been made for most of these maps, some of which would probably function well in a TG Coop capacity.

    If there is community interest, I'd be willing to look into what missions are out there, and what missions are suitable for TG play. I could then compile this work into a map pack "mod", that could then be put on the TG server to extend our gameplay options. (If anyone wanted to help of course that would be welcome.) Unfortunately, until I look into what missions are out there, I won't know exactly how many missions we'd be adding to the repertoire. Maybe only one mission per map. This will not be a huge addition of content. Just a few new things easily compiled for our use. The question is:

    Would you be willing to download a 100 - 150 MB "mod" that would be required to play on the Tactical Gamer server?

    id do it, i think this game is filling my gameing neeeds just perfectly and would love to help get it going with some more mods and such

    I don't see any skillsets that I can uniquely bring to its creation, but hell yes I'd download it and install it when it's finished.

    Darkilla: In short, NS is pretty much really fast chess. With guns. Apophis: I haven't seen anyone say that SM's are better than non-SMs. Nordbomber: This is THE first server I've seen where either side can comeback from out of seemingly nowhere with the right teamwork. en4rcment: I have NEVER experienced the type of gameplay that I have found here. Nightly I am amazed at the personalities and gaming talent. Zephyr: Apophis is clearly a highly sophisticated self-aware AI construct that runs on a highly modified toaster oven in Wyzcrak's basement.

    Right now I've got permissions on 5 new maps. Waiting on one more. Problem is the missions. Most of these have never (or rarely) been scripted on. Without coop missions, these maps are not worth putting on our server. I am still researching possible missions, though, and will find out some sort of solution. I may script a couple of missions myself on some of these.

    I'd be happy to help. I'm not familiar with GR scripting, but can learn and would like to help out, if needed.

    Yeah if you got some links to learn scripting we could maybe do some good ones and put out a Tac mod 3.5 or something

    While I appreciate your willingness to help out with scripting, I hope to have this map pack out very soon. It would probably take you guys longer to get up to speed on mission-scripting than it would just to get the map pack out the door. Remember, this is not going to be a huge addition, just a few maps and missions new to TG.

    However, if you guys are interested in learning scripting, I can point you to some tutorials and would be willing to provide some help/advice as you learn.

    While I wouldn't want to discourage you from scripting (which I think can be very fun), I just want to mention that GRAW will be out before too long and we may see a shift to that. My point is simply that I personally do not want to get into any long or even mid-term modding project at this stage, because by the time it is done there may be no one to play it.

    Again, I don't want to discourage you from scripting. But I would recommend we keep our sights pretty low for now and see what kind of life-span GR will have left.
