Gear Check for Nax, etc

Hi everyone.

Have been thinking about readiness for next level instances as enough toons in this squad reach 80 and want to see the next level content. Having pugged and gone a few times by invitation to Nax etc this takes more gear than just being 80. Auriand and I talked about upgrades earlier today and I thought I would share what I have learned. I might suggest as well that if you see someone from your squad on it would be good to get groups together to do heroics and start upgrading now. It is more realistic that you will be successful if people walk into Nax with decent upgrades in place.

Easy rewards to do upgrades:

Description of Healy things and other

Frenzyheart faction

Sparkly shiny Gloves plate blue upgrade equal to later rep reward

Discarded Titanum pants plate blue upgrade equal to later rep reward

There are cloth gloves and mail pants here as well and at only revered not exalted.

These are easy quest chains and good gold.

If you need help with this questchain located in sholazar basin (cause you have to pick frenzyheart or Oracle and if you screw up there is a way to change factions ) see Wowhead and look for post "A tale of two tribes"

REPUTATION REWARDS
Below are description examples of excellent upgrade easily attainable till Nax upgrades. These are just a few and would look at loot table to see what might help you as an individual. Tabard is available from the vendor at friendly . Get these ASAP and wear in 80 level instance or heroic instance and automatically gain very quick rep. There are in addition repeatable dailies that offer cash and rep that can be done very time efficiently.

Wymrest quartermaster next to the dragon in the top of the tower at Wymrest Temple

Bracers of accorderd Courtesy plate honored

Sah of the Wizened Wyrm cloth honored

Sandals of crimson fury cloth exalted

Argent Crusade quartermaster 87,75 Argent Vanguard camp in the SE corner of Icrcrown. Tricky place

Standard Issue Legguards plate honored

Helm of Purified Thoughts plate exalted

Signet of Hopeful Light ring exalted

Kirin Tor quartermaster in Violet Citadel 25,48

Girdle of the Warrior Magi plate revered

Robes of Crackling Flame cloth revered

Several intellect stam leather rewards

All the heroics drop decent upgrades from BC gear and if you have your tabard on getting rep at the same time you are getting badges.

Badge gear Go to silver enclave and take the stair on the right this leads to vendors for badge gear.

There is an excellent tricket for healers called Egg something or other.

Pally healing chest for 80

Pally healing gloves for 35

Similar gear available for other clasees.

Work on instead of waiting for drop to me is best (I was lucky enough to have the gloves drop saving me badges yippee)

Steps to mitigate gear that is on the margin to enter Nax

All reputation gear includes different head enchants, finish rep and get these. If rep not there yet remember "shoulder enchant" in bank in Shattrah and "Head enchant" in HH quartermaster.

Pants should have a spell thread on them. Inexpensive spellthreads available at bank for gear you don’t think you will be keeping and marry a tailor for the higher level ☺

Buckle are available for belts and any stone may be placed there…. This was a great idea.

Other enchants are mat dependent. Mats are extremely expensive at the AH now, Check scrolls for sale may be cheaper. If you are not aware enchanters may place enchants for use on paper now which are sold as scrolls.

You may also present green items to your favorite enchanter who can disenchant and likely will provide mats for your enchant.. wowhead look at enchanting…. Good resource to know what you are asking for. Cosmic essence and infinite dust are the primary mats for what you will want.

Utgarde Keep and Nexus heroics are very doable. You could run those several times a week and have a reliable resource for badges and a place to earn rep as described below.

Great to feel out other instances cause they have very nice drops and fun content. But UK and Nexus are good to build confidence….. that you get a feel for spell changes and class changes. I see many people having to level on their own and that doesn’t give you a feel for that.

If the squad is having difficulty with the next level fights, I would not be discouraged but use some of the designated time helping each other with these upgrades/heroics/badges/enchants.

Re: Gear Check for Nax, etc

Great points, June.

10-man raiding is tuned to where you should be wearing at a minimum lvl 80 dungeon blues or better, and ideally some heroic epics / badge rewards (you can get 2pc T7 from badges), and with appropriate enchants/enhancements. 25-man raiding is a lot less forgiving.

If you don't mind a 'spoiler' to what loot drops where, a great resource for looking for gear upgrades is www.wow-loot.com.

On going to this site, you can click on your class icon at the top of the page to see drops that are applicable to your class from regular and heroic dungeons, rep rewards, and select quest-chains. You can further refine it to your basic role and it will trim the list further (for example, selecting 'druid' shows all druid-appropriate loot, selecting 'feral' eliminates all the caster items). It's worth noting that it doesn't list 'lower' armor types dropped when searching this way. So, for example, it would not list cloth or leather items that might still represent a short-term upgrade for a mail-wearer, but is still a great starting place.
