Guidelines and Expectations
We have a tight window for raiding. Two or three nights per week at about three or four hours per night makes every minute vital. Due to difficulties that we’ve experienced in the past, the following guidelines and expectations will be used. Note that these may evolve over time; we’ll try to keep them up to date.
SCHEDULING
1) Sign up for raids. If you cannot make it, sign up as unavailable, so we can get a clear picture of people’s availability.
2) Be on your raiding (main) character at the time of invites. Typically this is at 7:30pm.
3) Be at the designated instance at least 15 minutes prior to the raid start time. Typically this is at 7:45pm. Don’t expect to be summoned, ya lazies.
Note that it is not acceptable to be late and delay the raid due to finishing instances, dailies, arenas, battlegrounds, or anything on alts. Keep in mind that 24 other people are involved; do not inconvenience them.
4) Show up to the raid.

While we have no solid rules around no-shows, if it happens more than once, we will have to take some action, such as putting you next on the sit-out rotation or penalizing DKP. Consistent no-shows will not do your membership in the platoon much good. Obviously real-life can sometimes be unavoidable; see point 5, below.
5) Let another raid member know (preferably one of the raid leaders), as soon as possible, if you will be late or unavailable. This can be done via (a) cancelling or updating your raid signup, if at least two hours prior to invite time, (b) a forum PM, (c) in-game mail, (d) email, (e) phone call, or (f) carrier pigeon. We’d advise you to exchange phone numbers with someone you trust, as that’s probably the most reliable method of last-minute communication.
6) Stay for the entire run. Our weekday raids typically end at 11:00pm or slightly thereafter. Weekend runs may end closer to 11:30pm or midnight, depending on the will of the raid. If you cannot stay for the entirety of a run, make sure to note this on your signup. Consistently not being able to finish runs will be a problem.
7) Do not expect to bring any alts.
PERFORMANCE/SKILL
8)
Be prepared. Check the raid signup site and the forums well in advance to see what instance we’ll be raiding. The Raid Strategy Coordinator will present the resources you need to learn about the various trash and boss fights that we’ll be facing. Be sure to
check the forums often for those posts. In the event that this information is not posted in the forums, you are expected to search for it and learn it yourself.
9) Know your role. You should know exactly what you need to be doing at any given point during any fight that we’re engaged in; this may (and probably will) change from fight to fight. For example, there may be situations where a mage must focus on crowd control instead of DPS. Finishing the cast of a spell in lieu of refreshing the crowd control that just broke would be absolutely the wrong decision in that case.
Proper execution of your designated role for each fight takes precedence over everything else.
10) Know your class. This should go without saying. If it becomes apparent that you are not knowledgeable about the ins and outs of your class, well, that’s not good.
11) Maximize your performance (DPS, healing, tanking). At the very least, you are expected to be able to perform up the level of your peers. If you see others of your class outperforming you (on the damage/healing meters or in a more subjective sense), make sure you take it upon yourself to talk to those people and try to bounce ideas off of each other in order to improve quickly. If there are consistent and significant disparities, this will have to be addressed.
Disclaimer: Point 9, above, trumps this point. To continue using the example from 9, of course a mage in that situation would not necessarily be expected to maintain high DPS.
12) Concentrate and be aware of your surroundings. Everyone needs to be
focused on the task at hand at all times.
13)
Stay alive. A dead raid member does no good. Consistently dying early in fights is a big problem that will need to be addressed.
LOOT PROCESS
14) See the
DKP and Loot Distribution thread.
GEAR REQUIREMENTS
15) Gear Selection: All gear should appropriately complement your class and spec to maximize your contribution to the raid. You should do adequate research to know the best-in-slot items for your class/spec and strive to obtain them. In most cases, PvP gear is not sufficient for PvE. If you have questions, ask others in Resurgent for advice.
16) Gems/Enchants: All gear should be fully and appropriately gemmed/enchanted to maximize your contribution to the raid. If the best enchant for a given items requires expensive mats or high rep, you are expected to prioritize getting those mats/rep as soon as possible.
17) PVP Trinkets: With the exception of those who run with Human toons, everyone must have their [item]Medallion of the Alliance[/item], either the level 70 or level 80 version; anything with a cooldown longer than two minutes is not sufficient. You should bring this trinket with you to every raid.
GENERAL
18) Have fun! Things may sound very strict, but of course the overall goal here is to have fun. Hopefully everyone gets enjoyment out of being part of a well-oiled machine and seeing new content because that’s what this platoon is designed for.
Make sure you do your part, and we’ll continue to make progress and have fruitful and fun raid nights.
If you are unable to meet any of these expectations, please let us know. Thanks, guys!
