Alternate scheduling

As is always a problem when you start to over recruit for a guild you end up with people having to sit out on nights they are looking forward to playing.

I was wondering if we could work out some sort of alternate scheduling or discuss amongst ourselves what bosses we'd really like to down for gear etc. This way it isn't the officers telling you that you need to sit out and gets a feel for harmony amongst the "regulars".

Re: Alternate scheduling

I'd have to tend to agree with Del on this one. Or could the raid roster be set so we know if we are needed a certain night? Just a courtesy thing. As you expect each member to let you know if we can make a certain night or not, I'm sure it would be appreciated if we could get some notice that we have the night off.

Re: Alternate scheduling

Of course I'd be open to having those kinds of discussions.

Muric, the problem with setting a roster well in advance and thus giving the "sit-outs" the night off is an ever-present problem of no-shows. We have a number of raid members who, on not so rare an occasion, don't show up to raids for which they've signed up. Of course this is not in line with the guidelines that we've set up, but, in the end, it's a reality that we have to live with, due to any number of circumstances. So it comes down to either setting a roster and potentially not being able to run at all that night due to some unexpected no-shows, or not posting a roster and ending up having some people sign on for a few minutes and get the admittedly unpleasant news that they're being asked to sit out that night.

One unfortunate thing is the fact that there are only a handful of classes/roles that appear to present the prospect of persistent overfilling. I'll use the hunters for example. We have four active raiding hunters, but on a night with normal signups, there will be at most three hunter spots in the raid (in many cases it will be two). If all four sign up for every raid, then that's going to lead to a lot of rotating. Not a great situation, but all four hunters were part of the platoon from the start (we haven't recruited any and brought the trouble on ourselves) and are long-term guild members. That makes it tough to whittle it down. At the same time, we haven't often encountered instances of all four hunters signing up, so it might just be a rare case that we have to deal with. But for sure we should talk about ways to improve the situation across the board.

This is part of the growing process for us, and, despite the fact that it results in some people sitting out from time to time, it's a good problem to have: it means that we're all excited about raiding and progressing and want to contribute! Anyway, let's start talking about it.

Re: Alternate scheduling

Sitting out sucks. Ill volunteer to sit out if I'm not absolutely needed. Im lucky and can play whenever I want. I understand some people dont have that option and would like to raid when they are available.

I dont really need anything in SSC or TK (maybe VR). I just need the shoulders from the 2nd boss in MH or Void Reaver so I can go fire and blow myself up!!!!

Gav feel free to ask me to sit.
