Wowwiki – Naj’entus Bosskillers – Naj’entus World of Raids – Naj’entus Naj’entus Video A couple of things to look for in this video:
Strategy Breakdown Trash Given that we are back to “normal” trash pulls, I won’t be consistently posting strategies for dealing with trash. In Hyjal, wiping on trash meant starting all over again so they almost became a part of the boss encounter. Deaths on Black Temple trash, while not to be expected/tolerated, is a bit more forgiving and won’t set us back 30 minutes. Of note, though, is that there are several pairs of Aqueous Spawn that have long paths throughout the area leading up to Naj'entus. These pairs of mobs are on a 20 minute respawn timer so we do not have time to sit around picking our noses once we get to Naj'entus. Everyone should be prepared to engage as soon as possible so we don't face a pair of these mobs respawning mid-fight. Boss This boss will present an incredible strain on our healers. In addition to the random raid damage that will occur throughout the fight from Needle Spine and Impaling Spine, healers also have to quickly restore over 8k health to each member of the raid in about 10 seconds. It is critical that the entire raid stay spread out throughout the fight. Our DPS will also have to react quickly to identify and extract the Impaling Spine from whomever is affected by it, and be prepared to use it when it is called to burst the Tidal Shield. Look at the Bosskiller’s link above for an idea how everyone will be arrayed during the fight. Here are some class/role-specific details for you to focus on: Main Tank: Only one tank is needed. You will need to quickly generate and maintain high threat throughout this fight to allow DPS to go all out. Given the need for as much healing as possible, and the preference to limit the amount of melee DPS in this fight, we will be using either a warrior or druid main tank here. Melee DPS: To minimize the AOE damage taken from Needle Spine, you will need to be split into 2 groups as far apart from one another as possible while still staying to Naj’entus’ back. Rogues: You will need to use Wound Poison to mitigate the health regeneration affect from Naj’entus’ Tidal Shield. Warlocks: Be sure that you use Drain Life immediately following the Tidal Shield damage. This will significantly help the healers get the raid back to full health. Shadow Priests: Keep the mana flowing at all times. Healers will need as much mana as they can get. Paladins: We will aim to spread you out in each group to make use of your Frost Resist aura. This little bonus should help us mitigate some of the damage Naj'entus will be doling out. Main Tank Healers: There will likely be 2 healers dedicated to the Main Tank. You will be tempted to help on raid healing, but you must trust the rest of the raid healers to be able to handle this. Naj’entus melees for a good amount of damage and the main tank may get hit by Needle Spine or Impaling Spine so you *must* keep him up. Raid Healers: You will need to be arrayed all over the room to be sure everyone is in range of at least one raid healer. Priest Prayer of Healing will be a priority after the Tidal Shield is burst. Other raid healers should focus single target heals on groups without a holy priest. Keep in mind that we have a 10 second window between the Tidal Shield burst and when Needle Spine begins again to get the raid healed up. We will need to be able to react quickly to heal up whomever is hit by the random Spine damage throughout the fight. Above all, make sure you do everything you can to avoid running out of mana. Holy Priests: I anticipate that we will have a raid mark over our heads in order to keep our other group members within 30 yards to be able to effectively use Prayer of Healing. We should make every attempt to pre-cast it such that it lands right after the damage is taken ****All DPS**** - Impaling Spine: Given the strain that healers will be under to keep the raid healed up, it is going to fall on all DPS classes to pay attention for and quickly react to Impaling Spines. These will happen twice between each Tidal Shield, at 20 seconds and 40 seconds after pull or after the Tidal Shield is burst. You will need to know where you are in relation to others. If someone near you gets hit with the Impaling Spine, you must stop what you are doing and loot the spine immediately. If you loot a spine, you will also be responsible for targeting the boss and using it when it is called to burst the Tidal Shield. As long as the Spine remains un-looted, the victim will be taking damage and is completely immobilized. This is a priority assignment for ALL DPS. ****All Raid Members**** - 10K health: Everyone in the raid MUST have over 10K health fully buffed (including food if necessary); there will be no exceptions. You may use Frost Protection Potions if you choose, but doing so does not excuse you from the 10K health minimum. ****All Raid Members**** - Macro: Everyone should make the following macro and have it on your bars, ready to use. Code:
/tar High Warlord /use Naj’entus Spine

Quote:
The self heal would also be helpful after Tidal Burst; only one or two, though. Then back to heavy DPS.
