Signups? What's the problem?

So... what's going on, guys? Signups for tonight (Tuesday) are pretty ugly, and Thursday is even worse (two healers signed up? What?). I'm guessing this might be because Thursday is May 1st, and a lot of you didn't think to check next month for raids to sign up for. If this is the case, you should all know better. You know our raid days, so you should be actively seeking them out and indicating your availability for all.

Why are you guys seemingly so unenthusiastic about raiding? Aren't you excited about the potential we've shown? I would think that you'd all be chomping at the bit to make sure you're signed up. We shouldn't have to hound you to do this.

If this situation doesn't improve fast, we'll be forced into another round of recruiting. That will lead to a lot more forced sit-outs, which no one wants.

Re: Signups? What's the problem?

I'd love to hear ideas from some of the other consistent Resurgent raiders; you know who you are. There is a core group who always signs up, always seems able and excited to attend regardless of the day we raid. Give me your thoughts. PM me on the forums or whisper me in game with any observations or ideas that you think might help us move to a more consistent raiding schedule. Do you think we need to recruit more? What classes? Do you think we need to target different days? Whatever your thoughts are, I'd like to hear them.

It is incredibly stressful trying to make this work on our own; though I still don't agree with his decision, I'm starting to see how Sajier was feeling. I don't want myself, Gaviin or Talara driven to that same point, so I'm reaching out to the rest of our group for your thoughts. One missed raid isn't the end of the world, but as Gaviin said, given our recent success it seems odd that we wouldn't have an easier time filling out every raid we post. I want to nip this in the bud before it becomes a pattern.

Thanks guys...

Re: Signups? What's the problem?

I'm signed up for Thursday now - didn't check the May calendar the other night. Sorry about that. Tuesday was a no go for me this week but in the future should be ok. In general, the three night in a row thing isn't ideal for me but if that's what works for the group I'm ok with it. I realize that we've tried Sundays and Fridays with very limited success. While I'm not excited the prospect I'd rather sit out the occasional night than have us only be able to raid two nights.

Re: Signups? What's the problem?

Platoon leadership has been superb. Thanks guys! We have never been more organized or prepared for the upcoming raids in the almost 2 years I've been in TG. I've been having a great time lately and it was killing me being out of town last week

I wish I had some insight into the raid attendance issue, but unfortunately I've got nothing. It's frustrating, but seems to be a recurring issue that affects us as well as other casual guilds periodically and I'm not sure how to minimize it.

We all know the platoon goals for the week, raids are posted well in advance in order to note our availability and it seems like those who are unavailable are noting that on the signup.

We seem to have a pretty solid & enthusiastic group currently, so I'm hoping it's just one of those occasional (and hopefully infrequent) bad weeks.

Re: Signups? What's the problem?

I'd also like to chime in on what Aeryck said. Raid leadership has been outstanding both during and before/after raids. Big thanks to all three of you on doing the prep. Our success in MH can be directly attributed to how organized and prepared we've been. Having all of the strats posted and discussed and having everyone talking about what's not working as well as we would like has been a great benefit.

Re: Signups? What's the problem?

I don't check the raid sign-up site very often. When I do, however, I will sign up for 1-2 weeks in advance. If you know that we are going to be raiding, every Tues, Wed, Thurs... for the next 3-4 weeks.. please put the sign-up out there for us that far in advance.

As for attendance, the last 2 weeks have been bad timing for me. I missed 3 of my normal raid nights because of trips I took, one personal and one for business. The next few weeks look normal, and I should be able to raid Wed and Thurs fairly consistently. Tuesdays will still be random for me.

As for recruiting, I think that we could use a few more players. With the Summer months coming up soon, I would expect some us to have a shift in schedules and availability.

As for our raid leadership, I have been very happy with the communication and organization. I especially like the posting of the expected strategy that we will be using along with our raid goals for the week. This helps me be more focused when studying strats for the week.

Re: Signups? What's the problem?

We don't post raids 3-4 weeks in advance because we are trying to be very precise as to which instance we'll be doing on a given night. How we do in a given week may impact the next or following week's plans. Bottom line: it's extremely easy to check the sign-up site at the very least once every two days. Why not do it?

Re: Signups? What's the problem?

My fellow platoon members have already voiced my sentiments. Raid leadership has been awesome. And the progress has been very solid. That makes me look forward to our raids, more than usual.

Duck has a good point. I think posting the raids for a few weeks in advance would help. Some might only check a few times a week and if the raids are not posted, they will miss it. You can always change or adjust them as needed.

Re: Signups? What's the problem?

Looking back at times we have had to call off the raids it's more often because of lack of healers or tanks. DPS on the other hand has had the most times that someone has had to sit out.

I think recruiting at least one more healer would be a good idea...a resto shammy or one more holy priest that can regularly come to all 3 raid nights would be ideal.

I am a holy priest that is available in TG. I hope we don't recruit a holy priest to fill this platoon.

Re: Signups? What's the problem?

I think this week (and probably next week) may see slim signups from those of us in college- it's finals week for most of the folks I know. That said, I think we've been doing really, really great in terms of leadership, progress and performance. We've added some really talented players to the platoon as well, which I think is noteworthy.

If I'm reading the signups right, it seems like we're short on healers more often than not. Perhaps it's time to pull in a new healer or two, given some changes in circumstances for some (Manny comes to mind as potentially being unable to raid with us as often as he'd like).

I have genuinely been excited about our progress, especially as of late. We have a great thing going here. I often look at our raiding success as the payout for our long term dedication to each other.

If we need to pull a few new folks in and show them the ropes, I believe that is worth it, especially if we're coming up short on specific classes. Let's make sure we look at great folks, like Crescendeo, to remedy the issue before external recruitment. Who am I kidding? You guys know this already, and have consistently done a great job with these issues.

If there's anything I can do to help, please say so. My semester is over in a week, and I will be itching for some responsibility to keep me busy!

Re: Signups? What's the problem?

Not to shoot the duck for someone--but I see Crescendo in Delerium's WWS reports and hes running with them all the time. Doesn't that kinda hinder your ability to go to Resurgent without forcing the other 25 man to recruit a healer too? Just wondering I could be wrong...

This isn't to be taken offensively, cause I'm all for staying in guild for picking up members needed for the squads, but I hope you won't "Free" yourself up to join Resurgent to because they might be further advanced in content? Just try not to cause one group to suffer by leaving it to join another if the other as a whole have been relying on you.

Re: Signups? What's the problem?

Instead of hashing this out in the forums I think it might be more appropriate to discuss this in game so nothing is misinterpreted. The last thing I want to do is upset anyone, I play WoW to have fun
