Re: Malygos tips: Phase 3 strategy
Tarenth, I definitely agree that my strat is a bit more conservative in nature, and I wouldn't say that yours wouldn't also lead to success on the fight.
My one issue (and the reason why I modified my original strat) is that I found slight problems with sustaining the DoT on Malygos when hit with the Surge of Power. Considering he does that to three people at a time quite often, I reasoned that the slightly slower ramping up of the DoTs would be worth it in the end when balanced against the higher probability that people's DoT stacks will likely be dropping off altogether if they don't have that safety net of a 4-point Engulf.
If someone is lucky enough to virtually never get hit by a Pulse, then yes, I think a 3-point rotation is the better one. But in reality, we have to deal with the Surge.
Again, the best way to work out these different ideas and strategies is to practice, both on the Aces High daily as well as on Malygos himself. Let's get back in there soon.

Re: Malygos tips: Phase 3 strategy
I stumbled accross this page and i felt compelled to registered and post!
The strat you describe is possible but is far harder than it needs to be, try something like this:
Assign 5 healers to target themselves and use a 33334 rotation to heal the entire raid with life burst, they need to ensure that they do not become synched when using 4.
The other 20 people simply use a 112 rotation and spam it hard . If your 5 healers stagger there life bursts then the shield is not needed at all, you may get an odd unlucky death but it is offset by the fact that every1 should have stacked far more dots than using ur current strat.

Re: Malygos tips: Phase 3 strategy
While I thank you for your input, we like to keep things as difficult and unwieldy as possible here. :P
No, in reality, your strat sounds pretty good. I'm sure we'll give it a shot. Thanks, man.

Re: Malygos tips: Phase 3 strategy
As Helior's strat requires and I suggested, we should move as a group with a couple dedicated healers. This is a variation of the strat I remember reading and saw work on TankSpot.

Re: Malygos tips: Phase 3 strategy
Sorry, Tal. I misread one of Malygos's abilities (Surge of Power), which led to my thinking that we needed to stay spread out from one another.

Re: Malygos tips: Phase 3 strategy
Read. As with anything that involves teaching and learning, experience always preceeds knowledge. I will need to have the opportunity to experience the phase 3 Malygos fight a few times to really master these skills. I'll also continue to practice using the Aces High quest.
Thank you to all who put time in on writing and posting these strats. They are well written and very helpful.

Re: Malygos tips: Phase 3 strategy
Actually, you can master them outside of the instance...and you should.
Do the Daily with "Corastraza" or however you spell her name. She's on one of the broken ring pieces floating up around the nexus. Exact same drake/abilities...enough to practice with.

Re: Malygos tips: Phase 3 strategy
I understand and respect your position but I disagree with you on some of the finer points. I'm probably not explaining myself well, and I can tell from our posts that we have different definitions of the term "mastery". I only ask that you remember that my profession is in Education. I have spent years studying how people learn. I would be happy to discuss this topic at greater lengths in private. Here on forums probably isn't the best medium.

Re: Malygos tips: Phase 3 strategy
--25 other people don't matter as this fight requires individuals to do their own job.
--You said phase 3, not all phases.
--If you can do the Aces High Quest, then you only need to worry about instructions involving a "move" command.
(Sorry, didn't see you had mentioned the Aces High quest...but it is identical. The rest of Malygos s simple.)
