Roadmap

Ok, so we know that we are working on Gruul's, but Gaviin and I wanted to lay out where we are headed and what we might be messing with in short order.

First, we have Maulgar down pretty well, and Gruul should die this week (3%!), from there Magtheridon is the next step. The biggest issue with that is that we need to have 5 tanks for that fight, and currently we aren't seeing that many tanks log in due to some exits and some scheduling issues. Hopefully we will be able to add some off-tanks shortly to give us the opportunity to do this.

After Mags comes SSC and The Eye. Each are approximately the same difficulty, though I am hearing The Eye is slightly more difficult. After that is Hyjal and BT.

Now, with that said, Gaviin and I expect that within the next two weeks, we are going to peek our head into SSC or The Eye just as a learning experience. Void Reaver in TE is supposed to be pretty easy so that may be a target very shortly for us, maybe even this week. In SSC Morogrim Tidewalker is said to be a good starting point for the zone, so that most likely will be our first target in there.

So, in summary, we should be seeing SSC and TE within the next couple weeks to test the water, and we will be doing Mags as we have an appropriate group.

If we can make sure people are on for the raids, we should be able to make good progress very quickly and see some of these new zones .

Re: Roadmap

In addition to the tank requirements for Mag, it sounds like the warlocks are also really important. Some strats suggest 3-5 warlocks for banishing/fearing Abyssals. We all may have to brainstorm on this if we only have 1 warlock, even though Gnopaine is uber

Re: Roadmap

We currently have 2 warlocks in squad, Gnopaine and Ogi. We also have 3 hunters who can be used to do some kiting on these per several of the strats.

Re: Roadmap

I'm still getting used to who is who, but one of the healers (Lightshow?) has a pretty decent warlock alt (Silchar?). If we get long on healers, perhaps he could sub in his lock on occasion.

Re: Roadmap

Lightshow (Celltar) and Sharabeth (Jandreyn) both have very good warlocks.

However sacrificing a healer and a tank is a very hard thing to do .

So nice to be remembered! However, Jan is not ready for the 25 mans. Not too far off I think but definately needs upgrades.

Re: Roadmap

I've heard from some former TG-ers that the first boss in SSC is a bit of a joke so I totally agree that this should be on our near-term target list along with TK.

...and I'll throw my alt lock into the mix as well should that ever be needed. I'm much farther behind Jandreyn and Celltar in preparedness, but I'd put in the effort if that was needed. Wintrow is still my main and I don't want to sacrifice him, but view me as a resource if needed to help the raid get over any humps. And don't worry about pointing out that we need me as a healer; I know that... Just want all cards on the table...

Re: Roadmap

We are going to try other fights that are on the same level of difficulty as the ones we're working on. Why? To vary our skills, to challenge us in different ways, to build the team, to keep people interested and engaged. Plain and simple.

Re: Roadmap

That and taking shots and the inititive to enter the T2 raiding instances will have a positive spin on the guild image that is opposite to 'waiting till we're ready'.

People who want to raid will join raiding guilds.

If the guild doesn't raid then people who want to raid will leave making the 'wait till we're ready' harder as we lose the people who want to raid.

Inversely if we are raiding then people who want to raid will start to join the guild making raiding easier as we get more people dedicated to raiding.

Glancing through the strats is seems like we need less priests and more of a diverse spread to the raid group. A paladin tank would be nice for Morogrim and the murlock pickup (I know Ark once posted a movie about doing this duty for us). Druid tanks are also expressed to have advantages in several fights over warrior tanks. Shaman healers are praised in several places for chain heal's ability to bounce from most wounded to next worse and so on. We also need a warlock tank in some of the advanced fights with a Nether Protection build to suck up Fire/Shadow damage.

Personally I'm all for hitting The Eye first before SSC because 2 of the 4 fights (Lootreaver and High Astromancer Solarian) are mentioned as 'tank and spank' only which means easy once you get the hang of it. Al'ar is a more complicated with her flying around the room and Kael'thas is a PITA with 3 stages of complication.

...

Also The Eye gives better hunter loot and Voidreaver drops T5 while Morogrim doesn't.

Re: Roadmap

<----Agrees with Tarenth. I'm for hitting the easier bosses first to get our gear which will help us for the harder bosses. Lets get to Lootreaver asap.
