10/2 AAR: Gruul and SSC testing
WWS Stats
Gruul's Lair Very sloppy night guys. It shouldn't take us 6 attempts to down Maulgar at this point. We need to tighten up and reduce the mistakes. All of us (that means me!). Maulgar Loot - [Bladespire Warbands] - Baylord [Mantle of Malorne] - Gaiaghost [Cyclone Shoulderpads] - Violacea Gruul Loot - [Axe of the Gronn Lords] - Jest [Cowl of Nature's Breath] - Gaiaghost [Demon Stalker Greaves] - Jest [Voidheart Leggings] - Tinkk Serpentshrine Cavern Guys this was much better than Gruul's. Other than one early pull while a tank was AFK, we did very well, and know what we have to do to get to Lurker. Everyone please re-read the strats today for Lurker and be ready. We will be headed in there sometime tonight either after Mags or if we don't have enough tanks, it will be our first stop. Trash Loot - [Wildfury Greatstaff] - Drewidism [Serpentshrine Shuriken]x2 - Gaviin and Aeryck

Re: 10/2 AAR: Gruul and SSC testing
699 Sustained DPS isn't too shabby considering I spent all of the Gruul portion using my riding crop. ^_^
6 attemps at Maulgar is pretty bad, but it's balanced by the fact that we had an odd composition, took Gruul down in 2 attempts (first attempt had screwy tanks), and was able to clear SSC to Lurker without wipes and one really really close call. All in all I call that a good night and props to everyone for sticking it out. On "The Lurker Below" fight I suggest we change positioning slightly to place hunters on the outer islands. The inner ring is somewhat restricted and I spent a good deal of time running around trying to get a good position where I was out of my dead zone. Furthermore, hunters can have traps down to catch the archers when they spawn (originally I put it to the hunters to do that for the guardians, but my spawn point was in my deadzone and I was too far away) On another note related directly to hunters is I'd like for the hunters to start using the 'lining' technique with their quivers and ammo bags when they prep for raids. Basically that means if you aren't using top of the line ammo for all your shots (which is ridiculously expensive) you at least keep 1-4 stacks at the bottom of your quiver so you can switch in for high DPS, low threat management situations. That means if you are primarily using [Blackflight Arrow] you keep a few stacks of [Warden's Arrow] at the bottom of your quiver or if you are using [Ironbite Shell] you have a few stacks of [Felbane Slugs] or even [Adamantite Shells] to use when needed at the bottom of your ammo bag. If we ever get around to getting Scale of the Sands rep we can upgrade to Timeless ammo. This is because a fight like "Lurker Below" operates just like Ragnaros where it doesn't matter how much threat you generate he doesn't move an inch from the center. More DPS means less submerging, less submerging means less adds, less adds means faster and easier kills.

I try to use [Ironbite Shell] on trash and then use [Adamantite Shells] during the entire boss encounter in our raids.

![]() To improve their DPS even further can I suggest that both Pistos & Sajier start to include Shadow Word Death in their rotation? Yes it hits you for some damage, but then you've got VE up which then heals it back anyway. It would make a significant improvement to your DPS figures and keep you ahead of the rogues! Ranged DPS FTW. TL.

Re: 10/2 AAR: Gruul and SSC testing
I've been planning on working SWD in more. The more comfortable we get with these fights the more I will. Just have to make sure I'm constantly checking my health. A big kick back on a crit is a sizeable percentage of health and an ill timed cave-in, etc. would not be good.
Thanks for the reminder though .

Re: 10/2 AAR: Gruul and SSC testing
Part of it also is the fact that our HPs aren't in the 9-10k unbuffed yet. I don't want to risk it in a random damage fight like Gruul or Mags.
On Lurker and Maulgar I don't hesitate. However I was tanking on Maulgar this week... *cries*

Re: 10/2 AAR: Gruul and SSC testing
I find is mildly amusing that Tea comments on Aeryck beating Sajier and Pistos, but no comment is made on me beating them at all.
On an unrelated note I got to see some of the warlocks from Paranoid in action on Friday and they were having a great time in Karazhan. Laughing, joking, fooling around, and beating everyone in DPS at a rate of 2:1. This is also factoring that they stepped out several times so other people could have a shot at loot from some of the bosses. What the hell are they doing so different that they can perform half-assed and school everyone so readily?!? O.o

Re: 10/2 AAR: Gruul and SSC testing
Probably 0/21/40 shadow with 30% crit rate from gear? Especially if there are 2 of them with a shadow priest.
Anyway, that is what I've heard the raiding path is for warlocks that are stepping into Hyjal and BT. They just blow everything up with monster crits, and by then the tanks are geared so they can absorb the aggro. They also don't need to think very much with that spec -- Shadow Bolt spam all night long. Hence the successful screwing around.

Tarenth, are you aware of how pathetic you sound? Just wondering. This is why I hate these WWS reports. Makes us focus on the wrong things.

Re: 10/2 AAR: Gruul and SSC testing
Agreed, the focus shouldn't be on who beat whom, it should be on effective use of abilities, show who is or isn't avoiding damage from things they should, and also allow people to compare themselves to others in their same class and see how they do it.
This isn't a damage contest, its meant as a learning tool.

Re: 10/2 AAR: Gruul and SSC testing
Tarenth, sadly I must agree here, concentrate on other things. I like to look at the big crits--or how often i crit sometimes during the fight just because, it still kinda shocks me how much different BC is than pre-bc. but i don't like, live off in the time of zomg.
I'm sure that half those KZ fights they were afk because it is in fact, KZ.--They work together very well, and everyone can get their job done with few errors. That is where they are strong and able to do what they have done so far....i hope that answers your questions
