2x Samsung 226BW

So as a gift to myself for getting a new job, I bought 2x Samsung 226BW 22" LCD.

I like gifts from me!

So I'm coming from using the same 19 inch lcd for the last billion years.

Wow is all i can say... to go from one tiny screen to two huge screens is crazy.... going through my library of games, I must say the wide screen looks GREAT..

Now what i'd like to know is how do I set up both monitors so they're functional --- it seems that when I go into a game monitor #2 is kinda worthless, All I see is my desktop background.

How can i get TS and such on that second screen -- and how can i interact with it without alt tabbing out of my game on screen one?

1st up, what graf. card are you running?
2nd, google for program DisplayFusion. It is a tiny free program that lets you run multi monitor wallpaper however you want, like either dualmonitor wallpaper or 2 different ones.
Or you can look into ultramon, which costs a few $$, but ads tons of features, like you task bar at the bottom running across both screens.

You cannot run a game one one monitor and play with Teamspeak on the other without minimizing your game. Its not how dual monitors work. It can display background tasks, but games that are running in fullscreen will be the only thing you can interact with.

Re: 2x Samsung 226BW

If I alter the exe to run windowed, should that allow me to to alt tab to the other monitor without interrupting the game?

X1950 AGP 512

The native resolution is huge and I tried running ARMA --- performance went from the generally bad arma FPS, to far worse --- can't really fly at all anymore --- if i disable the 2nd monitor, should that improve performance --- I don't really NEED the second screen while playing, but it would certainly help.... if it means worse performance though, I'll disable it.

Re: 2x Samsung 226BW

Having a second monitor on shouldn't decrease game performance by any significant amount. It is a very small decrease, probably not that noticeable.

Re: 2x Samsung 226BW

Like Zoopy said, it is the pretty much the fact that your running such an old card and trying to get the game at a high rez.

What I did for teamspeak is went to options and set it up so that the plus and minus keys on the far right number pad move me up and down a channel, and the little star mutes teamspeak. That way I can do things without ALT-Tabing.
And if I remember correctly, BF2 does not like to be run windowed.

Alt-Tab will interrupt the windowed game unfortunately. Still, two monitors is awesome. I've been running a 19" and a 22" WS for about 2 years now, and prior to that it was two 19"ers. I cringe at the thought of doing work on my laptop these days. One monitor is just not enough space.

Re: 2x Samsung 226BW

I feel like clostrphobic when I use friend's computers when they only have 1 monitor.

And yes, just put your TS window in the 2nd screen so you can see it.
Problems:
If you don't have your game set to the right rez, it may push TS off the screen. Fix your game to the right rez to fix that.
And, TS has the annoying problem of jumping to what ever channel someone new goes to. It is extreamly annoying and I just asked the PR forums if there was any way to stop it, and they said no. I like being able to see my channel all the time too, so usually now every few deaths I just alt-tab and fix it. Also helps to close all the - sign channels in TS for the games you aren't playing, helps keep the menu from jumping too far up and down.

When he dies in the game, he alt-tabs to TS to collapse the channels and scroll up to the channel he's currently in. It's because TS always scrolls to the channel where something just happened (ie. user switched channel).
