Re: Thoughts on build?

Just double check around for some more reviews of the 2-3 models you are considering, as each site may be a bit different, or have a bad time installing, etc.
But those 2 look fine.

Re: Thoughts on build?

Thought I would post this for you. It is a just posted review of the new TR120 Black version. So pretty my cooler, but painted black, and it doesn't even cool any better. But the article does a really good job talking about installation, and has some good pictures about conflicts with chipset heatsinks.

Re: Thoughts on build?

Thanks for the article but let me get everything straight, partly because I don't fully understand the wording because I don't quite understand heatsinks yet, and partly because the bad wording and grammar of the person who wrote the article doesn't help.

Q1:
Quote:
Intel’s standard rules a 95mm x 95mm area for CPU coolers as the white lines show out. If you stand to this standard, your CPU cooler won’t conflit with anything.
So if the base of the cooler is bigger than 95x95mm, it's not guaranteed to fit my (Intel) mobo?

Q2:
Quote:
Unfortunately, TB120 is much bigger. Featuring a 140mm width, it occupy the whole areaabove CPU. If your NB cooler is taller than 40mm, TB120 might not be able to setup in your mobo by usual means.
Firstly, what's an NB Cooler.

Second, if the part between the bottom of the heatsink, to those pipe things that connect the part that touches the small area that cools and the big bulky area (if that made any sense at all), is bigger than 40mm, it may also be a tricky fit?
