Re: New build issue

Hi there,

I had some issues with that MB and Q6600 but I think I found a solution. It seems that the problem is the default voltages. If you change the settings from Auto you may be able to stabilize your system. I am not sure what exactly the settings should be but mine are:
vcore - 1.37 (CPU-Z shows 1.32)
RAM - 2.3 (default voltage for my OCZ SLI 800 is 2.1v)
HC - 1.4
NB - 1.5
SB - 1.6

The system is perfectly stable even OC to 3.4 GHz (from 2.4). You may want to try lower voltages and walk your way up. Once you find the correct voltages you will see that the MB is a great one for the price.

Belleq, Levi doesn't have any overclock on his parts.

Re: New build issue

Turns out that Enermax thinks it's the PSU and wants me to RMA it. So I'm talking to Newegg right now online. Apparently however I've now had this PSU longer than 30 days. 30 days of unstable operation. Ugh. Anyway the CSR is trying to get me an allowance to still send it in for a refund anyway.

Yay for Newegg customer support. So far the only thing I've been terribly impressed with has been the customer service. The prices are a little on the high side compared to some places and I did have a DOA Mobo and a bad PSU. Ugh. Get some stinking QA from your vendors!

Re: New build issue

You would have the same quality from any place you bought it.
Absolutely not Neweggs fault. They can only send you what the manufacture sends them.

What they can do is just what the CS is doing now, working with you to get you parts that work and you are happy with. And their prices are almost always cheaper than then a place like Bestbuys and circuitcity, even when they have something on sale. Take for instance that USB mic i posted about in that other thread going on right now. Almost half price.

Re: New build issue

Oh I know that it's completely the manufacturers fault, that's why I specified to get some QA from the manufacturer.

Products developed and produced for end-user application have lower quality control procedures in place for both the manufacturer/contractor and the sub-contractor who usually produces the majority of the parts. It's a fact of life unfortunately.

However OEMs seldom have the same quality issues because they require more stringent QA procedures. Not that things don't still slip through, but it's much rarer.

Even though Newegg has the marketing clout they don't keep enough stock and can't guarantee a large enough contract to demand that probably.

Ah well. It was waiting for me at home when I brought my family back from the movies today, so it's time to install the new PSU and see what happens.

Re: New build issue

Hmm, well you got the 1 in 100/1000 PSU from a reputable and quality manufacturer that fails.

RMA it and look on the bright side. You now know more about your computer.
