Re: Need Microphone Help Please...
I would think if the USB didn't work, something is wrong in your settings, like what you are set to for your recording device.
Running a usb one would take the hardware question mark out of the equation.

Re: Need Microphone Help Please...
Okay, now I suspect you probably didn't select your microphone in Volume Properties.
Make sure your microphone is plugged into the right jack (not the USB one)... Go to:
NOW...tell us if it is working or not.

Re: Need Microphone Help Please...
Like it doesnt even work, If its unmuted then it just plays a neverending monotone, Ive tried speaking into it when this happens and it doesnt pick up my voice whatsoever. When its muted.. its muted. Would the other options in the audio properties have anything to do with this? (auxillary, line in, etc.. )

Re: Need Microphone Help Please...
Yes.
My suggestion would be open up teamspeak and in the options window hit the test button and keep trying all the settings, making sure your TS setting it set to match. And if that doesn't work, do you still have the USB mic?

Re: Need Microphone Help Please...
OK Fen, I had almost exactly the same problem. When i put my PC together the mic hardly ever worked. Most people on this thread know that
![]() BUT! Go into your BIOS and look for audio settings in the BIOS. On my MB, it had the same driver name as you stated( the ATI one) "ATI Function Driver for High Definition Audio - ATI AA01" Unless your running a HD speaker set or something that REQUIRES HD, that doesnt need to be on. I screwed around in my BIOS and the same thing was set (Driver for High Definition Audio) Change it to AC97, the generic windows driver for audio. Worked perfect for me. Because i wasnt actually using the HD audio, it was conflicting to the one i was using (AC97) and it was causing my mic to do stupid things. In this case its interfering with the Xi-F. So yeah, its completely reversable if it doesnt work but i HIGHLY suggest going into your BIOS and finding audio options and changing that HD to AC97. Try that and get back to me.

Re: Need Microphone Help Please...
When you first boot up your system, hold down the "Delete" key on your keyboard until a blue screen comes up. Then you're in BIOS.

Re: Need Microphone Help Please...
Actually, you should google your motherboard and find out. I had to hit like F2 key on one motherboard. Or you could just randomly try hitting buttons till you find it. Delete key is pretty common though.

Re: Need Microphone Help Please...
Yea I found out how to get into the motherboard and everything, its like a ASUS something (ill find out and either edit or make new post on what it is later), but I checked all the options in the menus and even everything in the submenus and nothing about the audio or the ATI AA01 function driver has come up.. GiJoes been helping me tremendously using PMs so far, (not saying anyone else hasnt been help though)

Re: Need Microphone Help Please...
I use that exact Logitech USB mic posted earlier. Works like a charm, just make sure you select it in the audio panel.
Using a mic through sound card is a serious pain in the arse. I had microphones before and I always had different results through three onboard motherboards, SB Live, SB Audigy 2, and X-fi. Amazing, I had better results with the on board than the pricier sound cards. USB ensures consistency - The logitech has worked great, both on win xp and vista. I normally don't read this part of the board, feel free to PM me if you need help and decide to keep trying out the USB |
