Re: HTPC HD Upgrade?
Well well well, good sir, I have my old 3200+ if you're interested.
Used, yes...
20 Bucks?
AND IF YOU'RE REALLY CRAZY...
My old 7300GT. Runs like a champ....
Also 20 Bucks.
(By the way, I'm serious. I'd even take 15 for each. As long as you can paypal me, I'd be happy. Keeps my SM going

Those that have a HTPC, how are you plugging it into your TV?

Re: HTPC HD Upgrade?
Would switching to Linux help the my HiDef hiccup problems? I don't know anything about it's foot print or how efficient it makes use of hardware and drivers. Anyone have an idea?

Re: HTPC HD Upgrade?
It would be really easy to find out.
Just burn Linux to a Live CD and you can run it without installing it.
It won't run as fast and smooth as it would if you installed it, but just to try out the different flavors of Linux it would be a lot easier than installing them all, especially if you use a CD-RW.

Should also probably check these out to help learn more and decide which version of Linux you want to try since there s a wide range. Just click through the links you think would help you.

Re: HTPC HD Upgrade?
Linux was creating the identical problem, but check this out. I found this great Linux HTPC guide and if you scroll down to where it says "Tricks if you're CPU just barely isn't enough". He mentions my exact processor damn 2600XP. I shouldn't say that it has served me well all these years.
