If you haven't gotten the final version of Service PK 1 yet, it is now out for download. Supposed to be out later for the Windows update.

I wonder why the 64-bit SP is more than 50% bigger? Are the instructions all twice as wide and not more compressible? Or is their more changing in the 64-bit build?

For those still looking for XP service pack 3, Microsoft just announced it will be out in late April.

I was really hoping it would be sooner, cause i want to reformat my old XP machine into a HTPC for my living room, and would rather just go strait from the format to SP3, instead of Disk, SP2, then SP3.

Gizmodo.com just did a round up of what all the tech sites are saying about SP1, and it is pretty good news.

Bottom line:
"Putting all of the feedback together, we're going to give Vista SP1 an "upgrade" verdict, but don't expect too much from it."

It fixed Battlefield 2 for me. That was my biggest beef with Vista. Now I'm much happier with it. Downloading POE2 2.1 as I type.
