Re: New Creative Audio Driver for Vista

I had some buggy thing during install of the driver and got a blue screen.
Restarted and tried again, and after about 15 mins got my mic working for TS again.
Will get lots of testing tonight with the new ARMA patch and new version of PR out.

I installed on windows XP SP3. so far, all games work, but I do not know if the orbital strike pops and clicks are gone from bf2142 or if it helps any of the issues others may be having with FFoW.

Re: New Creative Audio Driver for Vista

Bamboo, my computer hung up and then shutdown on it's own when I tried installing the new drivers the first time. After I started back up I decided to uninstall all the stuff that had anything to do with Creative, including Alchemy. That seemed to do the trick. I was trying to update without removing any of the old drivers and I think it caused a conflict or something.

Bamboo,

* Resolves the issue for systems with 4 GB of RAM.

Any idea if this "issue" is a BSOD? I suspect that my Vista BSOD issues were sound card related.

Cheers!

Re: New Creative Audio Driver for Vista

Not sure. I have wondered that too, but since the crash during install I talked about above, it seems to be running fine. Have only had a blue screen since due to Nvidia.

Re: New Creative Audio Driver for Vista

Can anyone confirm if it fixes the crackling on BF2142 on WinXP?

Re: New Creative Audio Driver for Vista

Aaaaaaand Creative shoots its self in the foot. I've never been happy with my X-fi and their response here doesn't lead to optimism.

Re: New Creative Audio Driver for Vista

I have a question, anybody using the Xtremegamer, Vista Ultimate x64, TS, and latest drivers have any issues with the mic boost always being turned off when you start up TS? I have this issue all the time. I sometimes forget to check the boost before getting into TS and when I get on and talk nobody hears me till I check the boost.

I have the X-Fi platinum and have probs with mic boost turning off whenever I restart on XP. I ran Vista a while back and the trouble the drivers gave me made me uninstall vista altogether.

also @ buckets: that story was featured on the front page of digg for a while. The thread containing that post reached over 250,000 views and 180 pages of responses in a single weekend.

Re: New Creative Audio Driver for Vista

So far all seems good with Vista and my hardware. Only real problem is the mic boost getting switched off. I do believe SP1 helped a lot of issues with Vista but I believe the biggest is still the fact a lot of people do not understand it and they mess things up themselves.
