Talking Re: Good things about Vista.

Most of my problems have to do with my Belklin router which after a firmware update that seem to be fixed.

Oh and Ntune will not work but that is no big deal.

Re: Good things about Vista.

Yeah, Ntune does cause my computer to restart everytime I tried starting it up. So I just uninstalled it. Was going to download Riviatuner or whatever it is called. All I wanted to do was just keep an eye on my GPU temps. I had never used Ntune before and was giving it a try, heard it monitored the temps, I have no idea if it did or didn't.

Re: Good things about Vista.

Rivatuner has a great monitoring screen. You can also set it up to control the fan in your gfx card, so that it kicks into high gear when the temps get high and back down low when the load decreases. It is quite complicated to do but they have a nice tutorial for it.
ntune is nvidia software, and we know what that means...

Re: Good things about Vista.

I was just going to mention Riva. The fan profiles that come stock on the nvidia cards are woefully underpowered. I was able to lop 20 deg off an 8800GT system just but adjusting the stock fan for gaming

I did figure out the UAC thing, I didn't do it correctly the first time I guess.

I wasn't really trying to bash vista just share the problems I was experincing. I do find that currently vista is pretty good, my point was that overall I don't feel a need to upgrade XP yet. I will soon enough but there isn't a real advantage to yet for me.

It never happened before the 1.11 beta patch though so I am not sure. After the reboot from BSOD though, it always says Nvidia's fault.
Oh, just to let you know I have the Antec Nine Hundred case and I was running my fans on medium so i decided to turn them up to high. So far this seems to have cured my problems with the driver crashes but the temps are still high for the card. According the EVGA web site these cards usually run in the high 90"s*C range though. I still am considering on getting the AKIMBO cooling fan for the card. I think it will improve it and keep from voiding any warranties. I also considered the Zalman cooler that cost like $50.

Re: Good things about Vista.

Thats all I hear these days XP is better than Vista but people want to be so bandwagonish and not even try Vista before they start saying its buggy. My freind just built a PC and when he told me that he's gonna buy XP instead of vista I said in my mind what such a stupid move he just made. I haven't had no problems with Vista yet except for constant updates and I would trade it for XP anyday

Can I get a link for this software for my 8800?

RivaTuner v2.08

You are responsible for any thing you do with this program. Do not adjust settings you don't understand unless you want to turn your card into a paperweight. Take your time and research and look at guides (there are tons out there, just google) before you change your settings.
