overcurrent error?
So, after building my new rig with an Asus p5n-D 750i SLI motherboard, i hooked everything up, turned it on.... everything looks right in the bios, but when i exit... "Warning! USB device overcurrent detected! system shutting down in 16 seconds!.
Now... i have nothing in the usb ports. Tried removing the bottom USB ports, but that didn't help either. Any ideas? Some things i can think of are i don't have 3 of the correct standoffs, so it might be a grounding issue... |

Re: overcurrent error?
Maybe the USB header is not connected correctly (I presume you hooked it up to your case's front USB ports) ?

Re: overcurrent error?
Case doesn't have front ports...
UPDATE: Ahah, i removed the rear USB port expansion and that seemed to clear it up. Now.. do I continue to use the built in two, or figure out wtf is wrong with the 2 port backplate that came with it.. |

Re: overcurrent error?
That sounds like you have a grounding issue check where you have your motherboard screw pins...if there is one just under the Hub (Slots) on the board remove it....Check & see..

Re: overcurrent error?
Sounds like an issue that happened to several older ASUS budget boards. Have you looked at the ASUS official forums to see if a newer BIOS update corrects your issue?
