Re: Latest news about next gen graf. cards
By the end of June you should be able to easily be able to find all of the things we have been talking about.
And no the GX2 is not what I would buy. Even if I had money just falling out of my pockets and could blow it how ever I wanted, still would not buy it. New GTX280 is supposed to beat it, and it is a single card solution, meaning less heat and power needs. We will know in a few days.

This just out moments ago. Very short demo video from Ati's new stuff. Man I wish the video quality was better on the city part

Re: Latest news about next gen graf. cards
Wow, that is impressive. I just hope that they didn't just take ages pre-renderering this, and that the GPU is as good as this tech demo seems to suggest - It's not clear, but it does look quite realistic.

Re: Latest news about next gen graf. cards
Fudzilla has a lot of news out this morning:
Geforce PhysX driver comes after GTX 280
Radeon HD 4870 to sell for $329
Radeon 4850 goes against 8800GT
Geforce GTX 260 to sell for $399
Nvidia GTX 280 SLI and Tri-SLI pixellized
PowerColor HD4850 sold in Hong Kong
Looks like ATI is saving us from the greed of Nvidia. Got to love a price war.
Actually just found some more links:
3-way SLI GTX 280 Scores P21350 In 3DMark Vantage
3-way SLI Action with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 280 and 3DMark Vantage same news, but some good comments for extra thoughts

Re: Latest news about next gen graf. cards
I think this is a win win situation for the consumer. nVidia is pricing their cards way to high IMO and ATI will undercut them to force all cards to drop in price.
I just don't get how in the current market with lots of great cards available between $150-$300, nVidia thinks people are going to want and jump to $399+ for their new cards?
If ATI can make a good card here and sort out their drivers on launch life I will be happy I have a crossfireX board, if not I will stick with nVidia

Re: Latest news about next gen graf. cards
The Physics of nVidia (and the fact that future games are planning to implement it more) may just tip it in favor of nVidia for me personally - I've said along I'll go with the 4870, but maybe a last second change, I wouldn't mind 30 or so extra £££ for the integrated Physics, as well as the performance boost.
Makes sense to cut into this market, the 8800GT has been probably the most purchased and most reliable vid. card for good performance.
Aww man, that sucks, I wish I could put up with this system for like a month so i could take advantage of those prices in like a months time...
Nice looking but stupid...same-old story since the beginning of time.
Interesting results, nothing amazing, but it will be competing with the 8800GT for the mid-high end, "bang-for-buck" gamers.
Yh, price wars are just good news for us. Even the people who hate ATi owe something to them, if they weren't in the market, nVidia would monopolise and put unspeakable prices on their cards - Competition drives prices down and quality up.
Undeniably impressive, don't think I've ever seen a 20,000+ score before, maybe a scrape, but never a comfortable 21,000...However, think of the power and cooling issues, as well as a good tri-SLI mobo - not forgetting the $1500 alone of GPU only.Anger is a gift - Malcolm X

Re: Latest news about next gen graf. cards
Ok, tons of news out this morning, and it is only going to get more.
I am linking mostly to Fudzilla because their articles are short and easy to read, and they have a lot of inside sources, but once the real reviews come in, will be linking to others.
Today is GTX 280/260 day
The Inquirer posts GTX 280 benchmarks
GTX 280 scores 14,800
GTX 280 and GTX 260 pixellized
Nvidia’s 240 Shaders are 240 cores
K|ngp|n does GTX 280 Tri-SLI
The ATI Radeon HD 4870 Is Prepped For Launch!
Radeon HD 4850 scores 13,500
Radeon HD 4870 to sample this week
I have to say, the more news leaks about the ATI cards, the more I hope they are true, and the more excited I get.

I'm going into hibernation and ignore this GPU news because I know I'll be here reading these benchmarks and news for hours on end and I've got exams just for this week, and then I'll go into hibernation looking at this stuff
. Appreciated, I'll be looking at all this when I can, keep it up if you can dude

Re: Latest news about next gen graf. cards
I'm really excited about the new Radeons. Hope they live up to they hype. If they do, I'll probably switch to a Crossfire board and at least one of the cards when I get ready to build come August.

Re: Latest news about next gen graf. cards
So the reviews are poring in, and this site has a list of links to most of them
NVIDIA's GTX 260 and 280 Has Arrived
Just about everyone is doing a review.
Here are some good ones.
ZOTAC GeForce GTX 280 AMP! Edition
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 280 Graphics Cards by EVGA and PNY
GeForce GTX 280 & 260 -andantech.com -good review - bottom line I think " you'll quickly realize that as impressive of an architecture as the GT200 is, the price point just doesn't seem to be right.
The GeForce GTX 260 does very well in Crysis, slightly outperforming the Radeon HD 3870 X2. At $400, this is a much closer race and one that's a lot harder to call, so let's move on. "
Nvidia's GeForce GTX 280 graphics processor
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 280 and GTX 260 Unleashed
BFG (NVIDIA) GeForce GTX 280: does it rock our world?
GeForce GTX 260 to the rescue?
I like this line from the last article "Of course, ATI could well upset the apple-cart with Radeon HD 4850 and 4870, and we advise you to wait a couple of weeks if a graphics-card upgrade is on your shortlist."

Re: Latest news about next gen graf. cards
I am posting this from one of the articles above because I know not everyone is going to read all the links, and it think it is really important.
The other thing I have to say before I wrap this all up is that I’ve tested the HD 4850, and I’ve tested it in Crossfire. Now, if I hadn’t tested those cards I may have been more impressed with the GTX 280, but I have. I’ve seen the performance figures the cards put out. We also know the price on a pair of HD 4850s is going to be under $600 AUD, while the new GTX 280 in stock form seems to be launching at the absolute cheapest in Australia in the low $700 AUD area. Ouch.

Re: Latest news about next gen graf. cards
looking at all the reviews and benchmarks coming out, I am not impressed with the GTX280 at all.
Would rather spend half the cash and get a 9800GTX and it performs better in most cases.
And one thing I need to point out from that quote you posted above Bamboo, since I missed it the first time:
