Re: Latest news about next gen graf. cards
Unless im reading something wrong, in the tomshardware review it says that the 280 will NOT support DX10.1?

That is correct. Nvidia is being stubborn.

Re: Latest news about next gen graf. cards
yeah... I'm gonna be building around middle of august. Honestly, I just can't see buying a GTX280 for that much when the 9800GTX sells for between 260-300. Then you factor in what the new Radeons will be costing. Sheesh, just a waste at this point IMO to just be able to say you own the latest nvidia.

Re: Latest news about next gen graf. cards
I feel like this is a repeat of the 8800 Ultra. I still can't believe there were people willing to pay up to $900 or more for that card, which was just an overclocked 8800GTX.

Re: Latest news about next gen graf. cards
Anyone know of any reviews for the EVGA E-GEFORCE GTX 280 Ftw 670MHZ or how well it performs in relation to the plain jane GTX280? Thanks.

Re: Latest news about next gen graf. cards
@Desert, haven't seen actual numbers yet I don't think, but will post for you if I do.
Edit: THis might do for you Desertfox
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 280 Graphics Cards by EVGA and PNY
For todays news
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 280 post-launch pricing comparison
US etailer, Newegg.com, currently has GTX 280 cards from EVGA, BFG, XFX and PNY in stock, priced between $649.99 and $659.99. Yes, that's approximately £335, plus any local taxes and shipping.
EVGA announces five GTX 280 versions
More GTX 280s and 260s announced
The cheapest GTX 280 sells for €497,63
For ATI news:
A detail look of PowerColor HD 4850 512MB GDDR3
AMD announces Cinema 2.0
same news here, but video is smaller and embeded
AMD's Cinema 2.0 demo: "you won't just play movies, you'll play in them"
God that looks good
but some slightly down news
Radeon 4870 to come a bit later
So we might have to wait a couple weeks for the market to be fully flooded.

Re: Latest news about next gen graf. cards
ATI needs to bring both their cards to market ASAP. I hope they didn't botch this round. I'm not paying $650 for a new card but I also don't want new game to cripple my comp, damn you nVidia

Re: Latest news about next gen graf. cards
that video looks like a bunch of smoke and mirrors. They are using blur and camera shaking to make it look graphically better than it is.
I hate that type of camera operation in movies, why would I want it in my games?
ugh.

Re: Latest news about next gen graf. cards
See that nVidia price war article is exactly why ATI should have been out by now. nVidia can launch at ridiculus prices and grab the initial cash flow from the impatient people. Then they look like saints by dropping their prices every few weeks. Meanwhile ATI has to drop prices before even releasing their products. ATI will loose out on that initial cash flow from release prices that nVidia got.
My recent troubles with nVidia cards makes me so biased towards ATI's new products, I so hope that they do well, especially in crossfireX
