Razor Barracuda HP-1 Headset Mic Problem

I recently bought these new headphones as a gift to myself only to relize that the mic on it isn't working. I can hear but the input is not working, it doesn't even come up on any mic selection boxes. I have a feeling this is my soundcard but I'm really not good with computer stuff so I'm not sure exactly what my sound card is. From what I can tell from the device manager this computer is using "SigmaTel High Definition Audio CODEC" and "Unimodem Half-Duplex Auido Device" but I don't know what either of these are nor do I know if they even have anything to do with the mic.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

EDIT: Windows XP if it matters. Also saw the other thread about this, it didn't help.

I had the same problem. This may sound dumb, but make sure your mic is on ALL the way. You should here it click into place. If this ain't it, let me know.

It all the way in. I should also add that my old headset (Longitech "Premium Stereo Headset") never worked either. The only mic I've had that worked was a USB webcam.

sounds like it could be your sound device (i.e. integrated or sound card) then USB doesn't go through the sound card

That mean I would have to buy a new soundcard right?

I bought the sound card and it works like a dream.

To be honest with you, I never used the jacks...
