    Thanks for the updates Bamboo.

That is really nice that the 4850 scores as well as a 8800gtx. If it can do that in games is something else though. It looks like nVidia is going to have to watch their pricing on their new cards. I can only assume that the new nvidia cards are going to be the top dogs but if they cost way to much it may sway the market a bit towards ATI's cards?

    Just updated:

X58/Nehalem benchmark run at Computex WOW THESE ARE LOOKING BETTER AND BETTER!!!

    Meet the HD 4870 celebrity

ATI's RV770PRO is pretty hot Plus, this scored even better in Vantage. ATI's looking even better.

Intel Says Yes to Overclocking, but No to Warranty of Overclocked Death Chips

    Computex 2008: OCZ Technology
They said this" On a closing note, you may have noticed that the Hydrojet is once again not present, after being MIA at CeBIT as well. OCZ has now officially cancelled the project, as the cooler did not perform good enough and thus was not up to OCZ standards."

I am not happy at all about that. I have been very excited about the possibilities of the Hydrojet for 2 years now since the prototypes were shown. Google for it to learn more.

Also for next week, for those that didn't know:
Big Apple Announcements Coming Next Monday

Supposed to be the next gen I-phone and who knows what other new stuff.
    Can't wait for that.

Well, it poured down cats and dogs most of yesterday afternoon with some of the harshest thunderstorms I have seen in a while, so I am a day behind in moving. That just means I get to post more news about ComputeX, and it is good news!

The world's best HTPC mainboard? Quite possibly

GIGABYTE shows off AMD's unreleased Radeon HD 4850 - "FAST"!

Mini-ITX 2.0, VIA Nano Plays Crysis

    Nvidia to launch 9800GT

Physics to get 16 titles by Xmas

    More:

Intel Launches Low-Power 65nm 4 Series Chipsets for the Desktop

And this one is a must read for people thinking about upgrading or waiting for Nehalem. Those numbers are absolutly flooring, considering they are months from release, and are only going to go up!!!!!

The Nehalem Preview: Intel Does It Again

I just said in the other thread I hope AMD catches up, but with Intel hooking us up with this, I don't know how AMD can.

First keep in mind that these performance numbers are early, and they were run on a partly crippled, very early platform. With that preface, the fact that Nehalem is still able to post these 20 - 50% performance gains says only one thing about Intel's tick-tock cadence: they did it.

We've been told to expect a 20 - 30% overall advantage over Penryn and it looks like Intel is on track to delivering just that in Q4. At 2.66GHz, Nehalem is already faster than the fastest 3.2GHz Penryns on the market today. At 3.2GHz, I'd feel comfortable calling it baby Skulltrail in all but the most heavily threaded benchmarks. This thing is fast and this is on a very early platform, keep in mind that Nehalem doesn't launch until Q4 of this year.

WOW I can't believe Nehalm is going to be such a huge increase. I really thought it was going to be a case of it doing only slightly better and then a big slew of reasons why it hasn't matured yet. Right out of the gate it looks like it is going to trump everything!

I really wish I didn't just upgrade now, well almost.

So the Q9450 I was going to order is going to look outdated in half a year...Intel you awesome bastards.

    This does look incredible.

Good news on the 4850 for sure...because that means the 4870 will be even more of an improvement on it .

Back to the off topic my life/internet sit-rep, I am now actually homeless.
Got all my crap packed into a monster rental truck and drove down here to the rental office to sign the final papers and get the keys. We get here Friday afternoon about 5:00, and the lady says sorry, but there is a little problem. The last people trashed the place and it will be at least 2 weeks before they get it all ready to move in. So wife and I are like WHAT THE HELL???????? Why didn't you call us and tell us this earlier in the week. We are actually paid up at our old apt. in D.C. for another 2 weeks, but now all our stuff is stuck in a rental truck that is costing like $100 a day, plus our hotel is $109/ night. And since it is the weekend, and this is a very laid back area, no one works on the weekends. I am actually on the computer down in the hotel lobby. Crazy crazy crazy.

Damn man, that more than sucks, that much for 2 weeks has got to be killing you man. But hey, if Reaper says its a nice place to be, I say enjoy it. Silver lining and all that right. How many times are you gonna go and stay in a hotel in North Carolina for 2 weeks, take it as a 2 week holiday , get to know the area etc.

Well at least you're back, I was about to write an obituary dude .

Ouch, I hate moving. You have taken it to a whole new level You may be able to take legal action to offset your costs but that would be down the road? Best of luck Bamboo

Yeah, I moved to Texas with no home and no job. took me 12 days to find a place, and in the mean time my stuff sat in a 26ft U-haul. I can attest to the suckiness of it.

best of luck on the move. a least you aren't sleeping in the truck.

    Re: ComputeX 2008 news

Ok, so I finally got a place, but it was a very bad few days. I am hacking a neighbor's wi-fi right now because I can't get cable/net till next week at the earliest. Got a book last year from amazon called Hacking Wi-Fi (was actually trying to set up a long distace yagi wi-fi setup), and had never gotten around to actually trying the hacking part till now. Scary how easy it is.

Short version is I will now be able to get Road Runner/ Time Warner, so some real internet. But marriage is pretty ruff right now from all the stress of the last week.

We are now in Swansboro, NC, which is a very small but nice town, and I can ride my bike to the beach from my apt.

And DdogG, that is exactly what we were driving. And I tried to convince my wife to sleep in the truck, instead of blowing so much money on hotels. It was just way too hot with the heat wave that was hitting here.

Anyway, just checking in real quick, and will try to be back soon. I have a ton of reading to catch up on, like the I-phone 2.0, the new gfx. cards, etc..........................

Glad to hear that things are improving on your end man. Stressful situations make everything worse, just try to ride out the storm for a week or 2 while you settle in and you should be good to go. And dude...I really need to learn that Wi-Fi hack .

P.S. Google maps rules...I have satellite imaging of that military base nearby. Hee hee, it's amazing what you can get off the Internet these days . And yh, that area looks really nice man...from above at least...
