ComputeX 2008 news
The big week for new computer tech announcements is finally here with ComputeX 2008 show.
Tons of new stuff we have all been waiting for will be officially anounced, and this thread is where all the news you come across should be posted and shared.
I will be posting as much as I can like I did for the big show back in March, but I do have to finish packing and am moving to North Carolina on Wed. And the even worse news is I don't know if I will have internet at my new apt. It was just built and actually way out in the middle of no where, and has no cable, just satellite. I don't know if I will go DSL because I don't want to sign a year contract (stupid phone company, you do know this is 2008 right?)
So I might actually be stuck with dial-up. I am only staying in the apt for 6 months though while house shopping, so if you don't hear from me for a few months, no, I wasn't kidnapped.
This is how I am feeling right now actually:

In a couple days I will be like Ewin Mcgregor in Trainspotting, in the part where his is locked in the room and the baby is crawling on the ceiling.
And to top it off, the big summer Mac convention is in a few days, where the new I-phone is supposed to be announced and who knows what other cool stuff. I may have to go buy a laptop and sit outside a store car-jacking their wi-fi................
Back to the subject at hand.
Here are the first of many articles. These are mostly dealing with ComputeX related things.

Re: ComputeX 2008 news
Wow, that Antec case is a little nuts...i would guess you need to be in a very climate controlled environment w/ little to no dust for it to work well.

Re: ComputeX 2008 news
either the RV770 is wrong or the 4850 is. The pictures are not similar, they are IDENTICAL. we are still not seeing one card.

Re: ComputeX 2008 news
Would be wrong for me to drag my feet across the carpet and touch all those mobos? I would be so tempted to do that if I was there

Lots of interesting products poping up. Of course the next gen cards are what I want to see, more to the point I want benchies.
Good luck Bamboo with your drying out period, stay strong.

Re: ComputeX 2008 news
Erm, could this be put into context please...how much do other high/mid-end cards score roughly. From the reaction in the article it seems they're impressed, but how good is it compared with cards that are out now...

Re: ComputeX 2008 news
Hmm...on what I've seen (and I've only looked for about 20 minutes or so) this 5000 score seems pretty much OK. It seems that it's better than a 3870, but not as god as a 3870X2, and around the same as a 8800GTX...again though, I always wait for the benchmark tests for games, but this gives a kind-of piece of information so we know whereabouts the card is.
And thanks for the info. Bamboo.Anger is a gift - Malcolm X

Re: ComputeX 2008 news
Wow, thanks for doing the searching. Kind of busy right now.
That is very interesting that it in stock mode comes in around the 8800GTX. That card was pretty much top dog a few months ago, and selling for over $500. What did we say the ATI new card was going to cost? Wasn't in between $150 and $175.
Wonder what the overclocked ones will do once the drivers mature some.
Plus, that is their "pro" model, looking forward to seeing the XT equal.
