Re: 4 gb of ram = 2.93 gb ?

I would have to agree with McLovin, if your board supports 4 GB and you install 4GB, it should show 4GB in the BIOS. I HAVE had this same issue before, and it turned out to be a bad stick of RAM. It sounds like to me that you tested the new RAM with the old. What you need to do is take out ALL 4 sticks and boot the machine with ONE stick at a time. Make sure that it shows up as 1024MB in the bios AND in Windows. If they all show up fine, then you may want to check for a BIOS update. If there is none and all 4 GB show up as 3008MB then you most likely have a problem with your mobo. But I really think you have a bad stick of RAM somewhere, and im willing to bet its one of the older two.

Ok then well I will re-check the ram again, as for mobo the manual tell me it can use 4gb so maybe a bios upgrade would be the problem, where would I search for one ?

The other thing to check is that all the slots are working. It's possible that the RAM is good but one of the slots is bad. Although, I think the mobo would give an error with all 4 sticks in if a slot was bad.

Yea that could be another thing to look for, you can download bios updates at the manufacturers website under the drivers section. If a bios update dont fix it, and all your RAM sticks show good, then you may want to RMA the board just to be safe.
