Identify this chip

Here's a picture of a chip from an electric train's power output board. (Not a model. An actual light rail train.) Can anyone identify the chip? (The documentation has long since been lost.)

Hahahaha

I thought this was going to be a joke thread, and the picture was going to be like this

As for the chip, I have no idea.

Re: Identify this chip

There is a shop in town that would probably be able to figure it out if they could look a it in person. The place is called Circuit Specialists. They knew which capacitors I needed to replace the ones I accidentally broke off of my video card once.

Re: Identify this chip

Google knows the IC exists (and knows we're talking about it) but I didn't see any obvious data sheet links. Lots of Chinese sites seem to talk about it.

Same issue I've spent almost a half hour looking a LOT of places want to sell these by the thousands, but don't tell what they would be good for...

Re: Identify this chip

The closest I found was a 14 pin IC with an analog switch, but it was using too many pins to fit in this 6 pin SOIC package.

The company that made the train has gone through several acquisitions, each time losing engineering knowledge, and somewhere along the way all the documentation was lost. Alas, it seems corporate acquisitions are highly entropic. (The one I went through bled engineers pretty bad, including me.)

This doesn't bode well for that maglev train being promulgated in this Sandbox thread:

Found this resource:

Has logos that I'm looking through now.

Re: Identify this chip

More digging suggests that the QTC refers to Quaestus Corporation, which Fairchild acquired. This is probably an old optocoupler.

Re: Identify this chip

I see places to buy the 307AAP3 online, but no real information on what it actually is.

Re: Identify this chip

QTC made a line of optocouplers. QTC was bought up by Fairchild. The part in question is obsolete and no longer listed on Fairchild's website. I have queried them and their local reps to see if we can dig up the datasheet.

Dear Glenn,
Good afternoon. Fairchild sold that part of our LED business to Ever Light Co., a few years back. You will have to contact them for information regarding that device. The companies web site is: http://www.everlight.com/

Thank you,
Kevin
