Nvidia to drop 280 / 260 prices

All I can say is HAHA!

We all need to be thankful for ATI right now.

Check out the article, but bottom line is $90 off 280 and $30 off 260

All hail ATi, even if you love nVidia, your fanboy company would be bankrupting you if it wasn't for these tenacious guys.

Meh $90.

They should sell them at $90. THEN people would be buying like it's the end of days.

I saw the same thing over at Tom's Hardware. They however hinted at some rather grim news on the Video Card Front. Apparently a few of the Card Manufacturers are not doing so well...

They're cutting the prices even further.

Re: Nvidia to drop 280 / 260 prices

Thing is though, the dual GPU 4870X2 (most likely name for it) is supposed to be out in a month, and it's recommended price is $499. Early word is it will beat the 280, so things are about to get pretty crazy. Right now, I really want a new gfx. card, but I have decided to wait till Sept.-Oct. time frame when FarCry2 and some other games are out to make my decision. By then, all the factory overclocks will be available, prices will be down and rebates will be up.

Re: Nvidia to drop 280 / 260 prices

Yep, thats the same thing I'm doing Bamboo. Also the Nehalam stuff will start coming out in late 2008 so that is going to be a major decision on when I buy. I just hope that in the next 4 months there will be a massive battle of epic proportions between Nvidia and ATI so we can have purty pricing. Hell, I may even buy an ATI if the price warrants it.

How can you say that UnDead? You have no idea what the future holds. I have owned 3 ATI cards and never had a problem. And as good as the ATI cards are this gen., they really are the best options.

I've been pretty content with Nvidia over the years. I've owned several of their cards.

Re: Nvidia to drop 280 / 260 prices

I have had nothing but bad luck with ATI cards, and always good with NVIDIA. But the news of price cuts is always good - especially considering how often "new generation" cards come out these days!

Re: Nvidia to drop 280 / 260 prices

I have had nothing but nVidia cards over the years and I would go with ATI right now.

I have a 8800GT on loan right now, had to RMA it and still have problems in multiple systems and OS. Yes the big bad 8800GT has flaws So both companies are not perfect. I go with the best value at the time and ATI is it right now.

I've had both and was pleased with both. No problems with either company. Go with what is the best bang for the buck.
