Acer Aspire X1200 Series Mini-PCs

This was just posted over at gizmodo.com, and thought some here might find it interesting as well. Not for use as a gaming rig, but just something very cheap for the kids or a Home Theater PC.

http://gizmodo.com/398056/acer-aspir...n-a-tiny-space

Those prices are really cheap, and pretty crazy the last one comes with a 22" monitor. It even has an HDMI port for hookup to like a big screen LCD or Plasma. And a DVD burner, which is something a lot of the other tinyPCs don't have, like the new one from ASUS. And blows my mind but it actually comes with Vista64.

Re: Acer Aspire X1200 Series Mini-PCs

You could actually game pretty well on those by putting in another NVIDIA video card, since the GeForce 8200 runs in hybrid SLI. Not mega high-end or anything, but pretty respectable.

It doesn't look like there's room for expansion there though by the pictures, so in that case, not so much.

Engadget.com has a short writeup as well
http://www.engadget.com/2008/07/08/a...c-fo/#comments

There are tons of comments, some with some good info. One guy already bought one last week at CircuitCity, and I just checked and they do have them at BestBuy as well.

If you can find a low-height card, you could probably put one into the PC.

Then again, I haven't noticed any low-height / half-height 8 series cards on NewEgg.
