Re: PunkBuster communication error handshaking failed

Lots of people have been X-firing me about this. I actually have little knowledge about Punkbuster, except it pisses me off all the time and is all because a bunch of horrible people that have to cheat to find their self worth.

Pwange, the little kid in PR (not sure how to spell his name) was having the problem yesterday and I saw him in the server earlier today. I think it is just a momentary bug.

Re: PunkBuster communication error handshaking failed

I just last week reloaded bf2 and all the patches; played great for 4 days and then started having this error pop up. I also have updated everything and still I am having problems. It says reload punkbuster but without reloading bf2 , i dont know how.

Yeah, the people I have talked to tried the manual update.
Portable Cougar just x-fired me and said he is having the problem too.

Re: PunkBuster communication error handshaking failed

Bamboo, I was having the handshake issue the other night when you guys were all playing vanilla. I finally gave up on it. I thought it was weird that I could play PR just fine, but I'd get kicked off a vanilla server in no time flat. I guess they are using different executables, but still... weird.

Re: PunkBuster communication error handshaking failed

Heres how to fix the issue

Go to Program Files
EA Games
BF2

In the folder you will se a folder named "pb"
delete this folder

Now download the PBsetup Program
Run through adding BF2 and updating the PB files.

Now check that you have the "pb" folder back in your BF2 folder.

Restart
Frag away

Cougar walked Turkish though that method above last night and it worked for him as well. Glad someone figured it out.

Re: PunkBuster communication error handshaking failed

I 'm getting it every single day since I came back from vacation (last week). I simply launch the PnkBstrB.exe before I launch PR (can be found under "c:\Program Files\EA Games\Battlefield 2\pb" if you installed in the default dir). If everything goes well, you 'll see a command prompt for a sec which then closes again. If it remains open it won't work and then you might have to launch the games first into the menu and close it again.

Works everytime for me...
