The article is pretty short and skimpy on detail. So I'm inclined to be HIGHLY skeptical.
Make no mistake; Google's rep has seen some tarnishing here and there the past couple years, especially with their "Do No Evil" slogan, and all of the datamining and adwords (I never leave Gmail signed in). At the same time, as the third commenter on the story mentioned, you have to make sure you have a good contract before you get bought into something like this. An air-tight contract is worth more than it's weight in gold.
