Help Needed: Icon Pictures/Thumbnails in Vista are Mixed Up!

Here is the screenshot detailing my problem.

I found this thread (of a similar issue) through Google, but no solution presented itself.

I have tried the regedit in the 3/4th reply, but it doesn't help me.

Restarting my machine doesn't help either.

This problem started happening yesterday night.

Anyone know how to get this fixed?

Are those all in your quick launch icon toolbar?
My understanding it having those there uses system resources to keep them all ready to launch. so I keep that turned off . Have you tried turning it off and back on again?

There is a hidden command somewhere in Windows to rebuild the icon cache, see if you can Google that up.

Holy crap man, clean that taskbar out. You must have what, 90 processes running at any given time? Thats a resource hog like no other.

I just tried that. Besides messing up my order of quick launch icons, it doesn't fix it.

Those are the Quick Launch program SHORTCUTS. They're not background processes.

Yeah that's his quick launch bar. But still, clean that up. I hate having a cluttered desktop. I have 4 icons on my quick launch and maybe 10 on my actual desktop.

Eh, I usually have this many icons. On my XP machine I had more.

These are the programs I use the most often (at least once a week). I hate hunting through the Start menu. I might do a shortcut folder again, but feeling lazy since my start bar is set to hide.

Mm, I keep the majority of the things I use on my quick launch too, barely anything usually stays on the desktop for too long.

Acreo, have you tried the search box in the start button yet? It makes it so quick to find the program you are looking for that unless you use a shortcut daily, almost not worth having on your desktop.

All you have to do is type the first 2-3 letters, and it usually brings up the program.
Like for Paint, I just hit the windows key on the keyboard, hit the P and I keys, and it has already brought it up to where I can hit enter.

ARMA is just windows key, A and R buttons, and enter.

Though I do have that shortcut on my ObjectDock as well.

Yep I have. It's a great feature in Vista. But I don't use it for programs that often. I only use it for programs I use maybe once or month or less.
