Hey, I need something to capture youtube and google video, etc etc.

Any suggestions. Nothing cluttered with adware or anything else, just a nifty firefox plug in that'll let me record whats playing or download direct.

What do ya got for me?

If you use Firefox, you can use DownloadHelper or use ClipNabber which does the same thing but isn't browser dependent (a website that autoconverts the stream into a download).

The nice thing about Download Helper I can just nab a video from YouTube and such by right clicking somewhere outside of the video area. It doesn't work on all videos. For example, it won't work with Vimeo since the plugin doesn't support the coding on that particular video sharing/blogging community.

For sites like Vimeo, I just use Clip Nabber which easily converts the stream into a file I can download.

http://www.downloadyoutubevideos.com/ <-- This gives you the direct .flv link to download. Of course you'll need an appropriate player, but as long as you have CCCP (http://www.cccp-project.net/) you'll have the codecs to watch this common format.

You can just use the VLC Media Player to play FLV files.
