    More good news:

Intel to cut SSD prices on April 26th

    And important part:
This is Intel’s second price cut on its SSDs in just two months time, following the first one in February.

Re: SSD drives in the news

I just ordered the OCZ Vertex 30 GB SSD, my first SSD! It's gonna be the OS disk with Ubuntu 9.04 on. There's alot of optimization tips i will have to try out probably to get it working right but i'm looking forward to trying this out.

Make sure you update the firmware on it. I read they just released a new one recently.
Also, one downside of OCZ drives is when you update the firmware, it formats the disk. Intel drives retain their data with firmware updates, so not sure why OCZ can't.

Yeah i checked up on that and the latest firmware actually changes this. So future firmware upgrades will retain the data on the disk.

Interesting news, and if the prediction works out to be true, we might all be pimping SSD by Christmas

    Some really good news:

Indilinx firmware cleans dirty SSDs, restores performance while idle

Hopefully all the SSD makers can come up with something like this

If you are looking to get a SSD, you are going to need one of these:

    Three SSD caddies reviewed

Might want to pick a good one. Hopefully there will be other reviews like this soon.

It only serves to reassure me that these drives will be ready for me to buy this Xmas.

Anandtech has done a huge new article to update the latest on SSD:

The SSD Relapse: Understanding and Choosing the Best SSD

Tons to read and I haven't even finished yet, but looks like Intel has some good competition finally.
