Re: Review: Acer Aspire One (Black, Windows XP)
Lenovo is coming out with an Ion based netbook here soon. You may want to consider that. If I remember correctly, it'll be the Ideapad S12. Really though, for the price point, the Aspire One AOA-150 is a spectacular deal. They're 299 in Canada at most retailers now, so probably a little cheaper in the States.
Overall I'm happy with my AOA-150. It's light and durable enough to be able to throw in the backpack and go, and cheap enough that you don't have to be constantly worrying about breaking it. I use it almost daily, even if it's just for a few minutes. Most of the time I'll have it downstairs with me if I need to check something while watching television, or look up a recipe while in the kitchen. When ever I head to a friends house, it generally follows me along. It's even gotten my by for the few days recently while my desktop was out of order.
Only annoyance with it would be the fan. And maybe that it's a little tough to get access to the RAM/HDD. And I suppose I'm not a big fan of the placement of the buttons by the trackpad. But everything there is actually really small in comparison to how helpful it's been.
Overall, basic, not that great performance-wise, but enough for day to day basic tasks. It's Gaming

Re: Review: Acer Aspire One (Black, Windows XP)
The ASUS 1005HA and the 1000HE are both great models priced at around $380 (HE) to $450 (HA), offer great 6+ hour battery life, 10.2" screens, and the HSF assembly is better quality that what's in the AA1's first generation netbooks.
If you're not looking to game, the Ion-based S12 won't be that worth it to you since the price tag is expected to be around $600. At that price, you could get a regular laptop with a larger screen, better hardware, and a optical drive.Acreo Aeneas

I also might want to add...
I recently installed the Ubuntu Jaunty Netbook Remix build on my AA1, and I'm really enjoying it. I actually have used it for a few days now, and only having once flipped back to Windows for something.
It works really well, is reasonably fast, slick easy to use interface, and just a joy to use. I've been tweaking it out a little bit but mostly just getting used to it before I pimp it out with software packages. Including working to get MythTV going on it.
