Silverstone Raven: A New Concept in Case Cooling

Anandtech.com has a review for the new Silverstone Raven case

Silverstone Raven: A New Concept in Case Cooling

The reason I am posting it isn't because I necessary like the case (ugly as hell if you ask me ), but because of the way the motherboard is mounted. Check out the pics below.

I bet if they could fit in a few extra fans that would be a pretty cool rig.

It's interesting since we know heat travels upwards. The only problem remains is dust and dust filters. I would hate having to pop up the side panel, which requires me to move my heavy rig, just to clean out the dust filters every week or so.

Not to me. I wish all of the cables were near the floor instead of hanging in the middle of the case or worse from the top. (Yes my rig is "under" and to the right of my desk. No way in hell I'm hiding the 50+ pound monstrosity behind my monitor. It would scare it half to death.)

I still like Antec's P180 series design more. I can easily change both front intake filters and they're washable. The bottom of this SS case looks like it only has one filter (under the PSU) and it looks to be foam (prob not washable).

I'll stick with my Lian Li full tower. Innovation is cool and all but that thing is butt ugly.

i agree not a pretty case, but it depends on the environment that one uses. if your in a warmer climate of dorm room with no AC then it might be something to look at

your computer will still produce the same amount of heat (watts).. so the room its in will get just as hot, just as water cooling will still eventually dissapate the heat to the surrounding air... they are just doing it faster

If it's in a warm/hot room, you'll want to have air conditioning. A high ambient case temperature is bad for all of your internal components.

Oh my gosh...I want a auto-closing sliding front bay door for my Antec too!

That is so cool! It's so sci-fi. Love the door.

Re: Silverstone Raven: A New Concept in Case Cooling

As an update to this thread there is a new version of the Raven out, and it looks pretty interesting:

    SilverStone Raven RV02 gets reviewed

Looks good, and the reviewer liked it.

It seems that they lowered the price of the RV02 compared to RV01. The RV01 has a rebate going at the moment making it a little cheaper.
