Re: Windows 7 RC coming May 5 for public consumption
For those with ATI cards, did anyone else have trouble installing the Catalyst drivers? Windows automatically installed its default drivers, but then when I tried to install the ATI drivers over them, for some reason it never installed. So I found I had to go into device manager and uninstall the default driver from there and then manually install ATI's driver along with Catalyst Control Center.
That's basically the only issue I've encountered with Win7 so far. Just wanted to point that out in case anyone was having similar problem installed their graphics drivers.|TG-12th| jmaker

Did anyone else notice that the 64-bit version of Win7 Ultimate is over 700MB larger than its 32-bit counterpart?

Re: Windows 7 RC coming May 5 for public consumption
I've been impressed. As compared to the beta, RC1 detected my TV tuner card when the beta didn't. Only driver I had to install manually was for my NIC. Once I installed it, Windows Update caught everything else EXCEPT, get this, my Microsoft webcam, which is the one device there isn't a driver for.

Speaking of my TV Tuner card, I'm starting to play with Media Center in Windows 7 and it has "synch" functionality. I just bought a Samsung P3 MP3 player so I'm interested in whether this means it would auto-transcode TV shows I record and copy them to my P3? Anyone know if it supports anything but Windows Mobile phones?

Re: Windows 7 RC coming May 5 for public consumption
So I reinstalled Win 7 a few days ago to give it another test run. No issues this time around (had some with a previous beta). Having used it for 4 days without issue I like it. However, I do not see enough of a change from Vista to consider paying for the switch (there are improvements and new features I like don't get me wrong). Unless I get my hands on a free copy of Win 7 (like I did with Vista from a microsoft event) I will probably stick with Vista personally. Anyone else not impressed enough to shell out the $$?

Re: Windows 7 RC coming May 5 for public consumption
Well, I am running Windows RC1 on my laptop and have been running Windows 7 Beta every since I bought my DIY laptop and got it all assembled. So, as of now I plan on shelling out the $$ for Windows 7.
I could always try using something Linux based that is free but I personally have not used any Linux based O/S so would probably be stumped on what to do. It would probably be better for me to spend the money and get Windows 7.
I have not tried any games that ise PB yet with the RC1, my guess is Evenbalance is still not going to work with Windows 7 till it is completely final. If anybody else has Windows 7 RC1 working with PB on PR give a shout and let others know.

Re: Windows 7 RC coming May 5 for public consumption
I am thinking of buying a new HD and installing 7, but people seem to have problems with games. Does ArmA work Bamboo? And as for PR, is it possible to open XP mode and run PR in there? How optimised is it compared to Vista at this stage? I am a noob, I am still on XP, so forgive the silly questions, I just want to know if it will be worth my time transfering over. I will probably do it, and then clear my XP HD, reinstall everything, and go dual boot, one OS on each HD. Also, I run 3GB of RAM on XP, should I bother with the 64 7, and look at more ram in the future? Or will doing so cause me possible problems?

Re: Windows 7 RC coming May 5 for public consumption
Jeepo, some guys in the ARMA fourm said they didn't have any problems with ARMA and Win7. Punkbuster is still screwed, but hopefully that will change.
I just ordered a new harddrive a few mins ago, so will let you know how it goes.
