not sure how to do it, it might be jailbroken, but a friend has his Iphone set up to look like its a Pip Boy! It comes complete with new icons featuring the Fallout mascot.

If you buy stuff from Amazon you must have the Amazon app. Even if you don't, grab it anyway and check it out. It integrates Amazon's turok engine so you can take a picture of almost anything and you'll get links to where you can actually buy the item you took a picture of. I've tried books, CDs, gadgets and even kitchen appliances and the correct links come back--all thanks to turok's crowd-sourcing.
Peggle is good, mindless fun.
I've spent many hours on TowerBloxx. It has some nice arcad-y play mixed in with some city building elements.
TapDefense, FieldRunners, and Star Defense are all excellent tower defense games that I've lost countless hours to.
SpaceAce! The older TG members will remember this arcade game--one of the few LaserDisc games ever released. The graphics on it were amazing. Completely different from any game of its time. This is a port of the game--it looks exactly the same. Click the link above to see a video of it in action. Still looks amazing.
Crayon Physics is lots and lots of fun. It really embraces the iPhone's touch technologies to make an enjoyable puzzle game. Check out the video.
Dictionary.com is an awesome app. Full dictionary, thesaurus and word-of-the-day in your pocket.
The Yahoo! Messenger app works great and is really well done.
There are tons of other apps that I also use, but this should give you an idea of what a great platform the iPhone is.Twisted Firestarter

Modifying the firmware to allow running of unsigned code. This let devs to make apps for the iPhone before the app store was opened. Now, it's a way for devs to release apps that aren't approved for the app store. Originally Posted by birdie_in_Texas

I saw it the other day and grabbed it right away. If you go to the site you can play with it a bit in the browser before you buy. I haven't paid for many apps, usually just getting free ones, but this one was worth it. Originally Posted by ScratchMonkey
