Lost Connection to the server.
Grr...this is really starting to get me mad. It seems for the past week, I can't get a good game in. In both Battlefield 2(PR) and 2142, I am losing connection to the servers. After returning, I play about a round or two, but then the same thing happens. Figuring it has something to do with my internet connection, I bypassed my router and straight to my modem. That didn't work either. It just seems unstable from time to time. I really don't think its my internet connection, because I am still on TS and X-Fire.
Thoughts?

Re: Lost Connection to the server.
Dirt, I think this is a function of whats going on with the server re: what wicks was talking about in the 6th forum. I've been having the same problem for the last couple weeks, which only used to happen maybe once in a blue moon when my connection went down completely. Have you tried any other games with it to see if the process duplicates on other platforms?

I have played on several servers for both PR and 2142. I still get the same thing.

Re: Lost Connection to the server.
You have updated punkbuster with the mighty pbsetup?

That could have been it...I updated it and time will only tell. I didn't think that PB could have been an issue or not.

Re: Lost Connection to the server.
Can you do a tracert to the PR2 server via command line and post your results?
You may be losing packets somewhere along the route.Acreo Aeneas

Re: Lost Connection to the server.
PR2? Are you talking about the Project Reality server?
Here is the Screeny I took. The first one is to the BF2142 server and the second is to the PR server.

Re: Lost Connection to the server.
That happens to me all the time, even when the server is not full. It appears to be more related to the tactical gamer servers because it does not happen with the same frequency on non TG servers.

I get it on all servers...not just Tactical Gamer.

Re: Lost Connection to the server.
Dirt I have had connection problems reported to me by quite a few people on the pcs servers. I notice your ping jumps pretty high in that trace which typically isn't normal for that distance. So it's possible there is a more central problem with internet pipes across the US atm.

Re: Lost Connection to the server.
Sounds like a combination of the tracert and ping commands.
Dirt, have you tried calling up your ISP and speaking to them to see if they could maybe reroute the data via another path or something they can do on their end improve the latency times?
Preferrably, not through New York (hop 7) since that's where your ping almost doubles.
Here's the whois info on the hop 7 IP address:

Re: Lost Connection to the server.
Are you on wireless somewhere? What error message to do you get in PR and 2142? "Connection lost" on both?
